Overview
Product Description
The X6 Model 5590CF provides an extensive range of networking and Internet access features in a surprisingly affordable product. Advanced security features protect sensitive data in the home or office. Setup and management are extraordinarily easy, and wireless connections are made with superior range and speed. Both ADSL and ADSL 2/2+ protocols are supported and automatically negotiated to ensure easy installation and a long useful life for the product. An Installation Wizard makes setup a snap, with an auto configuration option that will automatically configure the DSL settings used by your service provider. Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) provides easy Local Area Networking configuration and operation The Model 5590CF makes it easy to provide multiple levels of guaranteed upstream bandwidth for prioritized devices. One or more physical ports on the X6 is designated as the source for prioritized traffic. A gaming adapter, Voice over IP telephone adapter or other device plugged into those ports is then provided with the guaranteed upstream bandwidth selected by the user. The 802.11g wireless access point provides flexible networking with freedom to roam. With Zoom 125 Speed Booster, wireless data rates can reach 125 Mbps*. The Model 5590CF is also completely compatible with 802.11g from other manufacturers operating at 54 Mbps. Unlike other wireless access points, the Model 5590CF can support concurrent connections to both 802.11(b) and (g) devices without compromising the data rate of the higher speed devices. Wireless security meets Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA and WPA2) standards as well as Wired Equivalency Protection (WEP). Other advanced wireless features include Wireless Distribution. System (WDS) to support wireless repeaters/range extenders, and Wireless Multimedia Extensions (WME) to provide Quality of Service (QoS) for Voice over IP and other applications.- QoS (Quality of Service) - prevents signal starve and improves on-line gaming with PC or any next generation console

Amazing product
operating system:
Windows XPI got this product to replace a Linksys WAG354G router. Actually i had 2 of these routers. The first one died after 3 weeks of use while its performance was average. Ebuyer replaced that immediatelly but unfortunately the second died after 2 weeks whithout any obvious reason, i just powered it off but it never worked after that. I didnt lose my faith in Lynksys products so i demanded again a replacement from Ebuyer which was happy to provide me a new one. To my good luck they didnt have any of the Linksys in stock so i had to chose another product. After a lot of consideration i end up in this Zoom product. To be honest this thing works great. The wireless coverage as well as the signal strength are unbelievable. Even at the back room of my house i get a solid 54mbs in my laptop while i was getting a 12-24 with the Linksys. Moreover it is i think faster while the web utility is both for simple and advanced users and has everything you can think of. The setup was so easy that i had 3 laptops connected in 5 minutes. Really easy and the device looks quite reliable never stalling or hanging. I am very pleased with that product so far (2 weeks of use) and i rate 5 stars. I really want to thank Ebuyer as these people are really professinals and helpfull.
By the way i really wonder why there are no posts about X6 as it is a great deal and a superb product.
Conclusion
Signal + coverage: 5 stars
Internet speed: 5 Stars
Setup: 5 stars
EXEPTIONAL PRODUCT
Fantastic quaility as ever from Zoom
operating system:
Windows XPPurchased one of these to replace a Zoom-X4 ADSL/router/firewall and a Linksys 54G Access point. I need the space and wanted just one account access to configure. Well as with my previous Zoom product, set-up was a 5mins job with the GUI. Wireless set-up was just as easy, takes longer as more to configure depending on what level of security you need+how many PC’s Laptops you are connecting to it. I run it in mixed mode with 2 laptops plus an IPAQ’s/PSP/PS2/Nintendo DS connecting via wireless and 3 other wired PC’s on the LAN plugged into the back of the unit. It just sits there and does its job without any dramas. Just like my previous Zoom-X4 its connected 24x7 and has never been compromised or failed to restart after a power cut. It just re-connects the LAN and internet access every time.
I have a 8Meg line but I’m just on the limit of the ADSL range from the exchange. So it use to run at about 4.5-5mbps I have also notice that this latest Zoom-X6 ADSL 2/2+ modem gives me about 0.4 to 0.6Mps more bandwidth than the older Zoom-X4 modem. Which is great and everyone appreciates it? The Wireless performance is good to great, sometimes the laptops have a low network reading but this doesn’t effect internet or email transfer performance.
If you want one unit to do all these jobs I’d recommend one of these.
Great Product
operating system:
Windows XPI brought the Zoom X6 to replace my 3Com Office Connect 108Mbps Wireless Router...I have only been using it for a week...it has not dropped the connection once...the 3Com router was dropping the connection every hour...it was so easy to set up on a Tiscali 8MB ADSL...I would recommend the X6...!!!
Got rid of my Netgear DG834V2 - this is BRILLIANT
operating system:
Windows XPHorrendous problems on XBOX live with my Netgear DG834GV2. Couldn't talk, split speech, lag, lost connections, disconnections at midnight every day. The list was extensive. Tried every firmware avail. Finally gave in and bought this. Its BRILLIANT. Took 5 mins to set up, has more functionality than I know how to use, XBOX works flawlessly. No lag, No lost connections with hosts. Unfortunately bought from PC world (was a sunday and had the option of taking it back if it didn't work). on product box it states works with all Gaming consoles including PS3. I very much like the bandwidth prioity selection - you can set the % for each IP address on your network. Means I can game while my g/f uses the PC internet without affecting the gameplay)
Friend also bought one for his 360 after me telling him (alsop on Netgear DG834G). He has two XBOXs running through his Zoom with no issues whatsoever. Super router at a great price. Highly recommended.
Zoom X6 ADSL2
operating system:
Windows VistaExcellent modem router, never drops a connection and a doddle to set up.Easily as quick as my wired Netgear router and at half the price. Would recommend to anyone
Best and Simplest Ever!
operating system:
Windows XPThanks ebuyer for fast delivery!
Update the firmware from here...
http://www.zoom.com/techsupport/adsl/adsl_5590cf.shtml
I replaced my poor performing Belkin Wireless N router with this Zoom router in under 5 minutes! It really was simple...had to look in manual only to find out the admin password was zoomadsl to access the config page!
I upgraded the firmware for no other reason than for the fun of it!
Simple to use, reliable and hopefully offer me years of quality service unlike previous attemps with Belkin and Netgear...watch this space!
Superb Product
operating system:
Not ApplicableThis is a VERY nice product. Firstly, it uses a very simple rectangular flat top chasis , which means that it can be stacked easily ( unlike some other devices concerned more with design form than function )
Secondly, it is worth upgrading the firmware before one begins to customise the unit too much. The firmware upgrade requires the unit to be hard reset to factory defaults
The web interface is very simple to use , although you will need to have some understanding of networking and firewalls if you want to do anything that is not part of the default configuration
It also supports VPN pass through if you require remote connections via VPN
Wireless set up is really easy. Comes with a number of encryption types. Strong , reliable signal even at 25 metres
One minor quirk - if you want to save the settings permanently, you must press 2 save buttons, otherwise you lose the setting on any restart.
Shame that the product does not comne with the phone port for internet phones
Overall , excellent product.
Would highly recommend this
Super bit of kit!
operating system:
Not ApplicableZoom (formerly known as Hayes, for those of you from the dial-up era) produce some very decent kit and i've never been disappointed with them.
I bought this to replace my Netgear Rangemax router which had very poor range and the occasional drop outs. I recently bought a Zoom Wireless AP+4 to act as a bridge between my Xbox 360 and the wireless Netgear router in the front room. For the casual internet access the Netgear would talk fine with the AP +4, however when I was gaming on the XBOX it would drop me out and that is very annoying when playing ranked PES games online :)
To summarize, I have the X6 as my main router and I have the AP +4 to which I have connected my XBOX and 2 computers and the signal strength is up to 20% better without a SINGLE dropout.
For the normal ADSL (non ADSL2) users, you will manually have to set the WAN connection type to G.DMT - I use this on BT.
Do not hesitate to buy this product instead of a Netgear, Linksys or the dodgy Belkin routers.
Zoom X6 Wireless-G+ ADSL Modem Router
operating system:
Windows XPPurchased to replace a rubbish Belkin modem-router, Which i returned in 7 days. Bought this and made a huge difference.
An instant HIT!!
Simple to setup, small and compact, wireless range over 2 floors and good signal strength, great user interface with many options to fine tune.
Also has a ON/OFF power button which many other modem-routers dont have.
Other Modem-Routers may look better with bright funky lights, extended antennas and in a variety of colors - whereas this one is simple in black and plain looking.
BUT most importantly - IT DOES THE JOB its been purchased for.
Excellant product by a mile!!
highly recommended
