This is a fantastic card when paired with Linksys router wirless-N. fantastic high speed and no lag (important when playing games). I paired with linksys wireless-N router downstairs and my pc is upstairs. (100% signal all the time).

Before you install you have to run the setup program first (even before you put it into your Pc). Make SURE YOU DOWNLOAD the LATEST version of the driver. The one on the CD does not work. Also, make sure you download the correct version (check the CD). download the new driver and away you go, no hassle whatsoever. it will tell you when to instal the hardware, do that and you won't have troubles. Enjoy high speed networking.

Work Well with XP Pro
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

We have a PC in the downstairs back room. The Router is in the upstairs front room. Before I got wireless-n I use to get low or very low single on the PC and web browsing crawled along. Now with Wireless-N I get good or Very good signal and the internet fly's. This adapter works well. No problems with Windows XP Pro.

I dont know what all the fuss is about, why are people having trouble with this card - the solution to their problem lies with Interupt Requests, You need to make sure all you IRQ's are set correctly - I had the very same problem and my P.C locked up and misbehaved, so i went through all my IRQs and reset them to the advised setings which if you want you can find by googling. Please realise the equipment is not faulty and the software is not faulty it is the hardware conflicts within your XP box that is faulty you must make the necesary changes.

Thankyou and goodnight

Linksys Wireless-N PCI Adapter

os: Windows Vista

I installed this pci card into my computer last night and so far have had no problems with it.( ASUS AW8 MB running Windows Vista 64-bit). I downloaded the latest driver version off the linksys website. Installed the software then installed the card and it worked perfectly first time. My router is downstairs and PC is upstairs and get perfect full signal. I tested the card on online games last night and have noticed a slight 30-40ms lagg increase when compared to using cable but that is to be expected. Overall a good card with very easy installation.

Great card but not on Vista
review by: Anonymous os: Windows Vista

Just bought two of these one for and old Windows 2000 PC - works like a charm!

Vista is a different matter though, as soon as you connect to an access point vista locks up - Linksys still haven't got the driver sorted - just search for wmp300n vista lock up - you'll see that the driver issue is a raging one in Vista!

XP and 2000 seem to be just fine - with excellent range and signal quality

I bought this to go in an Acer desktop machine running Windows XP Home Edition and to connect to a Linksys WAG300N router/modem. I installed the drivers on the supplied CD, shut down the computer and installed the PCI card. On reboot everything appeared to be working correctly and the wireless network could be found and connected to.

This is where the fun started!! Immediately the mouse and keyboard started to lockup repeatedly for a second or so and make the computer virtually unusable. When playing music it constantly stutters and the CPU appears to be working close to 100% for a majority of the time.

I decided to download the newest drivers from the Linksys website (which are just over 6 months old) and reinstalled the device but still had no improvement. As soon as the device was disabled everything went back to normal with everything working correctly. I tried disabling the Linksys program (run as a service) and using the XP Wireless Configuration but it made no difference.

Linksys offer a Live Help service, so I thought I'd speak to them directly. The only thing they could suggest was to try changing the PCI slot the adapter was installed into - I tried that and again, no difference. This seemed to completely stump the technical support person I was talking to - it took them about 20 minutes to get back to me and at this point they gave up and said they thought the card was faulty and to return it. They seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that many users are having big issues with this card and the driver. Their own forum has a topic on this issue which runs to 20 pages long!!! I did ask them when a new driver would be released to sort out these issues and they couldn't give an answer.

I thought I'd give them a chance and order a replacement card but exactly the same issue appears on the new card. I've given up on Linksys and installed a Netgear RangeMax Next card (quickfind: 119373) instead. The driver loaded up with no problems and although there are concerns with Draft-N compatibility when mixing product manufacturers the Netgear card appears to connect to the Linksys router with no problems. I don't think I'll be going back to Linksys in a hurry!!

Do not buy this card if you own VISTA

If you want proof this card is pretty much unloved by Linksys google WMP300N fault...
Google will bring back 1000's of hits.

The Vista drivers are draconic, the guides are redundant, the support is as usefull as a chocolate teapot.

Stear well clear and search for something else. Its a shame because 6 hours of scrounging I managed to get some drivers to work where I could see my network which was at 100% signal strength when my last Netgear USB 111 stick was only getting 24% - but the thing kept freezing my PC, locking my Mouse/Keyboard out etc.

I am going to give it another 4 hours tonight then arrange an RMA to return this and buy a product with REAL Vista support.
