Drive arrived on time. Took a while to partition and format but very fast to install new installation of XP. Very quiet, fast and so far reliable. Cheap storage with no faults. Often rely on Seagate for 3.5 and 2.5 drives. Always reliable and excellent value for money.

fast and so far reliable, 5 year warranty with Seagate so that speaks confidence if a manufacturer can give such a statement with their products, i always use Seagate due to their low failure rates and warranty, installed in less than 5min and was formatted and partitioned in 2hrs

Note:
Windows 2000 SP4 will need a registry edit and your system has to have a BIOS compatible with 48bit LBA to enable the full capacity in a single partition or a partition greater than 137GB to be seen in the disk manager so you can format it
although if you format it (fat32) in another machine and move the disk over its not required

Drive arrived in under 24 hours. Fitted into system with no problems. Used software on Seagate website to transfer all data and operating system onto new drive. Worked fine, even adjusted settings so system would work with a 250GB drive.

I have had one of these drives for several months now and it is fast for an ATA drive.

It does take a while to format and partition but you can make a cuppa and have a snack while it is doing it!

I recommend you use the dedicated SEAGATE DISC WIZARD software found on the DOWNLOAD section of the Seagate website.

I have had this drive for a mouth now and there has not bin any problems yet, and it is really quiet, if u have any trouble installing this drive there is a program which u can download from the Seagate website for free and it will automatically find and install the drive for u, hope this helps.

Drive arrived promptly (thanks Ebuyer!), came packaged in an anti-static bag in an envelope - plenty of bubble wrap. Installed quickly with some rounded IDE cables that I also ordered. Clean installed XP onto it - very quick and hassle-free. Since then have uses Acronis Disk Director to add partitions - went smoothly. Very quiet, very fast and reliable, up till now. The sensor inside, after some general work on the PC, Internet etc. shows a temperature of 39C. Value for money is excellent - 16mb cache 250gb drive for under £40!

Installed great in a network drive

I recently installed one of these in a LANdrive I have on my system - despite being in an "unusual" environment (stand-alone drive used by XP as a store for file backups), accessed via an ethernet cable WinXP SP2 recognised this easily.

Despite copying some big blocks of data (folders with up to 20GB of data at a time) with no fan (but a heatsink as part of the LANdrive) it still runs nice and cool!

Get one for your project!
