Photos,Text, slides and 35mm Negatives
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

It does it all at a very good price. Excellent quality, good features and the software seems fine. I had it working within minutes. Usual good delivery from Ebuyer. Recommended

Film scanner

I got this scanner to digitize my collection of Film and slides. I had a UMAX earlier for this purpose, but that was very slow and used to take one frame at a time.

coming back to Canon - this thing is great for scanning 35mm films.
Good points -
- can take 6 frames at a go
- different settiongs for each frame
- easy pre-scan adjustments
- bundled software
- noiseless.
- Great QUALITY scans.

Bad points
- Slow compared to dedicated film scanners (takes about 4 min for 6 frames on full resolution)

Wary of Canon

Good specs, but the interface is hard to negotiate and clunky. Scanning from negatives is crisp but the scanner introduces visible dark bands onto the image.

Mysteriously stopped working after 13 months - the lamp unit would shuffle back and forth for a moment before an error message would be put on screen stating that the device could not be accessed. After exhausting all the possible solutions the machine was abandoned. This is not the first time Canon has let me down.

Useless

The color of your photos scanned either via negatives or normal scan mode end up being way off and the pictures are either too bright or too dark, useless. Very rarely will it actually get everything right. Try to edit the pictures and you can minutely improve them, or just make them worse.

review by: Anonymous os: Windows Vista

Does anybody know if this machine work with Windows Vista. Unfortunately I had bought a new laptop with Vista and I found lots of USB attachment, such as a card reader, Skype phone, Mobile phone connection I had with Windows XP does not work with Vista. So I just want to make sure this one works.
