OUT OF THE BOX

despite what ive read here, this package comes with everything u need to setup a wireless network around the home. Note it only comes with applications for 1 other pc

1xNetgear Router (With feet attachments)
1xPower Adaptor Plug
1xEthernet Cable
1xPhone Line In Cable
1xSetup Disc With All Appropriate Docs.
1xUSB Reciever With Extension Lead (USB End)
1xADSL Filter (2 pin for use with phone and bb)

So far i have been really surprised by the signal strength of this product, i have a full signal strength anywhere around my house and even outside in my garden, so when configuring, it is a good idea to setup a WEP password and 128bit encryption keys.

as for a question on this reviewing page, the router is powered seperatly from the pc, the router stores your ISP info so u can leave it on and turn all pc's off without it losing a connection to the net (aslong as its not connected to the same plug/socket lol), then simply turn pc back on and connect instantly via ethernet connection, and by finding network on the USB adaptor end.

OVERALL:(15 minutes to setup,absolute doddle)
extremely happy with this product, for the price u cant go wrong, people are saying this is crashing 4 times a day? i say to them theyve either set it up wrongly or their pc's have faults, not the router. signal strength is superb (obviously it cant go through 10ft thick walls etc derrrr) and the overall sleek look of the router is nice to look at.also the USB dongle does work despite more reviews and ive experienced no drop outs, obviously as its wireless u will incounter small losses in signal strength but hey who cares, its connected to the net isnt it?

Netgear and Speedtouch modem conflict
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

First of all, I agree this router is easy to set up when everything seemed configured right! It took me an hour or so to get this kit to work correctly, maybe it will help some of you out...Ok first of all, at no point does the Netgear router setup wizard give any mention of UNINSTALLING your previous router! You should do this via add remove/programs, as when trying to connect and configure your settings through the wizard, it finds your OLD router and will list it in the setup - confusing!! I'll try not to make this too confusing :( or I could go on forever! 1:uninstall your OLD router via add/remove 2: go into controll panel and select you internet connections. DISABLE 1394 (if you have this) and check that no other internet connections are visable - if they are, click properties and "never dial/use this connection" ONLY YOUR ETHERNET ADAPTER SHOULD BE SET TO ENABLE. 3 Run set up wizard on your new Netgear. You should now have gone through the processes and have Netgear installed. 4: Open your browser and type http://192.168.0.1 - this takes you to configuration of your router. (You can then Log into your Netgear router via icon on desktop) User name = admin, Password = password. 5 Run the wizard (listed on the right) once youve logged in (if your ISP provided you with a user name and password, you MUST type this into your settings as you wont be able to get on the net end of!) LEAVE any other setting at default until you've become familar with them. The MAIN setting to change is the name - this by default is NETGEAR, choose your new name and click/update/save. As mentioned when you next want to "log IN" use desktop icon. Hmm we're not all computer savy...Hope this helps some of you guys out.

Works fine on Vista - No Problems

os: Windows Vista

Bought this from ebuyer after I had bought a new computer from ebuyer (also excellent value!) which had vista. Old binatone router was not supported so I took the plung and decided to go wireless. Bought this one as I have heard that netgear are the best. Have not been disappointed. Had some trepidation about being able to set this up as I have no experience of wireless networks and internet connections etc are not my strong point. Firstly I was relieved to see "supports Windows Vista" on the packaging! (I had to find this out from netgear site before I bought it, and you can download the latest driver from the site which I did - didn't need it though). The setup wizard was excellent. You just need to have your login information for your internet provider to hand. Everything was explained extremely clearly, and I learn't alot. The router connected to my internet provider no problem (plusnet) and then I set about setting up the wireless network. It took me through this step by step, and explained very clearly the security settings that could be used. Didn't need the USB receiver provided as my laptop already had wireless. Signal strength is ok, as it does pick it up down stairs (furthest away in our house, about 10m through walls and floors etc.) but the strength was only low - still works fine though. Very pleased and would recommend!

Never setup wireless before, but found this product to be superb. Easy straight forward instructions. I have a 45 year old house with solid walls, and get excellent signal all over. I read good reviews on this product and agree with all that was said. Great buy !!

better than spec'd...
review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

i haven't actually tried the thing out yet but i thought i'd at least mention that it's better than the spec listed on here; it supports ADSL2 and ADSL2+. i bought it for a mate so i thought ease of use (and upgradeable antenna) would be more important than super fast ADSL standards. the box clearly states that it supports the newer standards, though. i'll review it once i've been and set it up for him.

I bought this bundle before Christmas to set up my son on the internet to stop him hogging my computer. It is easy to set up via the on screen wizzard and the signal strength from where I have the base station in the basement of our Victorian terrace to the first floor bedroom where my son has his p.c. is always registering as very good to excellent.
One thing you need to make sure of though is that your p.c. has a slot for an ethernet connection lead as this is needed for initial set up. If not do what I did and by an ethernet pci card from e-buyer for less than a tenner.

All in all an excellent product by a good manufacturer and well worth the pennies!

ebuyer delivey 100% on time, great router, 15 minuts to set up. great prefomance im using on bt line and ukonline 1mb broadband. my son is very happy to get his internet on the wii console , one thing to note is when you enter the wep password on other devices make sure you enter wep 1 password which is generated by the router, and not the password you enter. just brilliant highly recomended.10/10

Superb piece of kit
review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

I bought one of these routers expecting some teething troubles while setting it up. What a shock !! It was set up and running in 5 minutes with no problems. It works with my dual boot system under both XP and Vista and has worked flawlessly. Can't recommend it enough.

If you are still thinking of getting rid of that old USB Modem your ISP sent you..BUY THIS AND DO SO!!!!
This is a great product and very simply to install and get working. (me - 10mins)
I really can not praise this product enough. I was not sure with regard to wireless networking and a bit confused with the choice availble..

If you want to network - this does it! If you simply want a wireless modem - this does it!

..Best £££ you will probably spend this year!
