Network install a problem.....at first
os:
Windows VistaI was confused at first as the install procedure couldn't find the printer on the network. The router hadn't assigned it one, and there's no mention of a default address in the manual. There's a suggestion to print a network config page to find it, but this can only be done from the web-based admin - which you need to know the address to get to. It turns out that the default static address is 192.0.0.192 - not on a regular subnet - and to alter this, you must first use the SetIP tool on the supplied network accessories CD. Once changed to my router's subnet, install went like a dream.
Alot of printer for the money
os:
MacTook all of 10 minutes to setup and most of that was unwrapping it from its secure packaging.
Plugged it all in, set computers mac address to 192.0.0.191 so it was on the same subnet as the printer at 192.0.0.192, logged in through webrowser and set its IP to something a bit more sensible on the local subnet 192.168.1.x
Installed the supplied software onto the two macs running 10.4 and away we go.
Vista support
The printer is supplied with a driver for Vista. I have not tested it as I use XP
Revelation
os:
Windows XPI bought this after a previous mono laser gave up the ghost. I was about to buy one of the Samsung mono lasers but at this price and neat size (i.e. fits where my old one was) decided to go for this.
Installed it this morning. I was expecting to have ip address probs as others mentioned but in my case, printer picked up an ip address fine from my router and pcs found the printer easily on the network and everything installed seamlessly over the network.
Print quality seems very good. In B&W, maybe a touch heavy on the toner (very black). I'll have to see if it can be scaled back a bit. Colour is very good indeed - Not as good as an inkjet for photo printing but that's missing the point. I'll now get the kids to use this for their homework and preserve the inkjet just for photo printing.
On the noise front, it's pretty quiet in operation but what's good is that it seems to drop into standby/absolute silence in 20-30 secs. This has been when printing 2-3pages, may take a bit longer to cool from long prints. Printing is quick / good enough in that first page is printed by the time I get to the room where the printer is (i.e. 15-20 secs). A very slight ozoneish smell on the first prints today but all in all, at first use I'm delighted with this bit of kit.

Will it work with Windows Vista?
Great Little Printer
os:
Windows XPWhat can I say, apart from a colour laser jet printer for 100 quid is a bargain.
I looked at other makes, but these were much more expensive, so I kept on coming back to this one. I tried to find the catch, but couldn't.
I purchased the network version QF:120362 (with both network & USB)
The USB only version QF:120363 is a tad more expensive.
The printer arrived early, (Free delivery)Bonus.
The printer is compact, it claims to be the smallest colour laser printer. It could well be.
I removed all the sticky tabs and installed the colour toner. You cannot go wrong. Plugged her in. Yes, all printers are female.
Installed the drivers, they found the printer on the network, no problem.
Printed off a test sheet okay.
The quality as far as I can see is superb. I cannot see any raised lettering, which others have mentioned here. It also doesn't seem to have that glossy shine that you generally see on colour laser prints.
All in all I'm well pleased with her.
It really is a printer for the home / small office, due to the only two negative points.
a) - The paper tray only holds 150 sheets.
b) - The colour printing is 4 pages per minute.
The bigger printers take a ream of paper and print much quicker, but then again cost a lot more, not worth the extra cost for little gain, in my opinion.
This little printer more than covers my needs.
Spare toners QF:122530 currently cost about 55 quid, so that is where half of the cost has gone.
You do get a power cable, CD, Manual, Toners.
You don't get a USB cable or Network cable - again not a problem.
So a great little colour LaserJet printer for 100 quid.
Treat yourself! :-)
Superb Little Printer

Windows VistaThis is a superb piece of kit for the money, good print quality, pretty quick and reasonably quiet. What more can you ask for for this price.
Easy setup
os:
Windows XPHad this printer for a couple of days now and I am very pleased with it.
Print quality is first rate both for print and images. Image quality is very good but not as good as an inkjet printer when printing photos.
Setup was so easy, plug it in turn it on, turn on PC and install drivers, follow instruction and your away. worked first time on all networked computers.
have given it 4 stars as time will tell if it is worth the 5th.
