CLP-300

These are great little colour laser printers. They are the quietest I've installed for many customers. Very small footprint only slightly bigger than an A4 page. They are quite cheep to run as well. The toner changes are easy. Slightly ozone smelly when they are brand new. When you set the paper tray for A4 it sticks out a bit. I've done these and the CLP-300N networked version and both are a doddle to setup the drivers.

Great printer for the money.
review by: Anonymous os: Linux

Just got one of these from e-buyer, really pleased with the value for money. You won't be printing photos with it but for text and graphics it's fine.

Have it working with the foo2zjs driver for linux on ubuntu, the linux software that Samsung provide is seriously flaky!

The final bonus is the bonus pack that came with my printer, a complete set of replacement toner cartridges! It's an absolute steal.

I was in the market for a new colour printer after getting repeatedly annoyed with my Epson inkjet never printing correctly because I didn't use it often enough. My setup was an Epson inkjet for occaisional coloour, and a Samsung Mono laser for everyday stuff.

I actually got this printer from another supplier as ebuyer were out of stock for very slightly more than the ebuyer price. I chose the USB version over the Networked verison as I have a small PC on all the time acting as a print server for my other printers and as a firewall and webscanner so I didn't see the point in getting the networked version. Samsung seem to be running a deal at the moment where they throw in the rainbow pack (an extra set of toners) for around 40 quid, which is a bargain compared to the full set which can be more than the printer itself. The rainbow kit also comes with 1000 sheet colour and 2000 sheet black cartidges, compared to the 700/1500 that the printer is supplied with. I have also found sites where you can get the toners refilled for about 12 quid per colour.

I use the printer at home, rather than in an office, so I expect the toners I now have to last for ages, and although it is a larger printer than either the Epson it replaces or the other Samsung it is not obtrusive. It takes up no more desk footprint than the Epson, even though it is taller.

Print quality is excellent, but it does seem heavy on the black - putting on so much toner in fact that the lettering seems raised off the paper. This is easily tweaked in the drivers though. Colour printing is not as fast as B/W at 4ppm, but it's faster than the inkjet and the B/W is good at 16ppm. One review says you won't get good photos from it, but I would disagree. You won't get the same level of quality as getting them developed onto proper photo paper, and they may not be as good as inkjet photo printers, but it is every bot as good as my 50 quid epson which had very expensive cartridges and never worked when I needed to. Also, Colour Laser technology will never be as good for photos as inkjet, but if I want decent prints then I can get them developed and delivered in a couple of days on line for a whole lot less money than printing at home.

In the end, it was easy to setup, it's easy to use, it's quick enough for home use and the quality will suffice for 99% of the jobs I need it to do.

Toner

Just in case your wondering, you do get all the coloured toners with the printer. And also you might want to get your self a USB cable for it as its not supplied. Other than that its a mint printer for a good price!

Samsung CLP-300 Colour Laser Printer

This is the first colour laser printer I have purchesed and I have to say that I am very pleased with it. Delivery from Ebuyer was very fast even though I had opted for the free delivery. I was a little concerned after setting it up as there was an awful grinding noise and the test print was poor so, I pulled out each cartidge in turn and pushed them back. Then I restarted the computer, this seemed to do the trick. No noise and perfect printing. One thing that does concern me a little is that the printer gets very hot on the top at the rear and for this reason I always switch off at the rear when not in use. Maybe I'm just over cautious? Another plus is the fact that the printer comes with a 12 months on site warranty. Hopefully I will not have need to make use of it but, it's nice to know it's there. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend both the printer and the supplier, Ebuyer.

It does come with ink catridges
review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

I just bought mine CLP 300 plus ink catridges because one of the reviewer commented that his does not come with the ink. I can confirm that mine come with the 4 colour ink within the laser jet box.

(I shall keep mine extra ink anyway as it would be useful later)
