Its good enough my friend! It doesnt use any of your pcs ram up, it can run stalker on full graphics, it can manage direct x 10,it is cheaper than the Asus 7600GT 512mb because its just a bit better than the asus one, its also not sold by asus, so you wont pay for the brand, however, its better to say ive got an 8 series than ive got a 7 series, i bought one as while ago and its still going strong! No problems when i overclocked it up to 650mhz. I would reccomend it if you play games quite a bit, but if you are a really heavy gamer, shell out for the 8800gtx, but you may not be able to afford it lol!

I got one of these for my new system, not expecting anything amazing from it considering the price but it's excellent - it outperforms some of the cheaper 8600's, can cope with even the newest of games with every graphical option turned on and I had no problems installing it.

Seems good for DVD playback

I bought this card for its movie playback capabilities and I'm eventually going to install it in a HTPC box.

Until then its installed in the Maxdata Core 2 Duo machine they sell on here (quickfind:125244).

Easy to install and my Vista scores are now 4.7 for Aero and 4.9 for games.

Non HD DVD playback is good and Nvidia PureVideo seems to do a good job of upscaling it on a 1920 * 1200 monitor

All in all I'm very pleased with it.

If anyone could answer a few questions I would be greatful.

Why is this cheaper than the Asus 7600GT 512mb?

Could anyone tell me which converter to buy so I can use my VGA monitor with this card?

Thanks ...

Bought 2 of these to go into 2 identical systems to play some strategy games over my network, all play excellent, one card had a fan that didnt work, I replaced it with my old 6200s, on the box theres a chart comparing performance of their range vs Intel integrated Graphics on 3d mark 06, I have listed it below because I think it gives a clear comparison to give you an idea of what performance to expect from the 800 range.

8500 x7, 8600 x17, 8800 x32

Fast enough for my needs.

i am not uptodate about these things, but its generally true that you get what you pay for. This card runs WoW at frame rates of around 30-35 when video setting are maxed out, and the game looks quiet beautiful then.

1 thing to note is that this card is not SLi capable.

and yes it is slower then some of the more expensive 7series though most of the 7series owners don't realise this lol.

Now, I'm not a hardcore gamer but I wanted something that would make DVDs look good on my PC and would at least run my games on medium settings with no lag (at a reasonable price)

Pleasantly surprised to find it ran all my games on full settings! Plays Stalker on highest and Doom 3 on ultimate!

Barely any lag at all! Huge improvement on my integrated graphics

Running: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

2GB RAM

Vista Home Premium 32-bit

(PS get the drivers from the NVidia site)

Not a bad low end card..... but not for gamers

Bought this card because even though i want the option of gaming - its not my main concern.

For a start the card is quiet, you can not hear it at all - even when pushed... which is nice.

Vista (32 bit Ultimate ed) rates the card as 4.1 for Aero features and 5.2 for gaming graphics.

In reality the card is somewhere between a Geforce 7300 and 7600 in terms of power - so maybe not great for hardcore gamers... but ok for casual gamers and general PC users like me.

Obviously the card supports Direct x10 so its going to be able to handle future visual effects in Vista etc.

A quick side note: I couldnt get the card to work properly with the drvers that came with the card... had to go direct to the Nvidia site for them.
