This sound card is brilliant, I upgraded from the Audigy 2, and am so glad i did! I finally have a sound card that does my speakers justice, it does make the speakers seem more powerful, and the clarity of the sound now is stunning!

The control panel for this card is also top notch, 10/10, looks great but runs smoothly also.

- A new song has just come on, and this soundcard is producing 3D sound that I have never heard before! It sounds so much better :) GET ONE!!!!

This soundcard was to replace my onboard soundcard as my Audiology soundcard wont install with Vista, the quality of sound is far better than the audiology, The card is connected to my separate system hifi and the sound is amazing.

Just got this yesterday, as usual good delivery from ebuyer... installed the card the same night, as a techy I installed latest drivers etc. instead of whats on the CD, and gave everything a good testing, ie. system sounds/settings, music quality tests, and of coursee the main reason was the gaming, especially wanted to test Ghost Recon - Advanced Warfighter 2, which has had so many bad reviews about soundcard compatability, especially in Vista, well boys, this card works 100% in GRAW2 and Vista64... I was blown away by the sound quality and sound position etc.

Well worth the money, far better than my Audigy2 which I thought was a good soundcard. For reference to the lad asking about if you get the smaller backplate, I can't say that I seen it in the kit though I simply pulled the card out and installed it, I'll have a look in the pack today and see if the plates there, though I'm sure it would have been spotted straight away. The quick start does show how to replace the back plate for the smaller one!

In regards to the smaller backign plate

I had a look this morning, seems there is no "small" alternative backing plate included for slimline desktop PCs within the box, so most likely a seperate purchase.

Im quite pleased with this actually, didnt think it had made much of a difference at first but as soon as i hooked up my 5.1 speakers it really blew me away. If you're using headphones i would reccommend gaming mode, however if you're using speakers go for entertainment mode.

Try experimenting with the settings as some sound better than others; and although you may think it, setting crystaliser isnt always the best. I leave mine at around 80.

In gaming mode with 3D headphone enabled i can really hear 360 degrees through standard headphones and works very well with counter strike.

Note: If you're NOT using windows xp then use the latest drivers from the website. You wont get the special utility at the bottom, so you'll have to change your settings in the XFI control pannel, which is found in control pannel. (I just made a start menu and desktop shortcut).

Unless you really, really want to keep the Box and instalation manual, and your too lazy to download the drivers, use the OEM version, QF 127030. Exactly the same but without the box, manual or drivers.

I have these hooked up to a set of Harman Kardon Soundsticks II. When listening to music i've noticed instruments in the background i never knew were there. Truly recomended.

WOW!
review by: Anonymous os: Windows Vista

Wow ... i bought me one of these to swapp from the sound card you get with the asus commando(sort of on board but its a seperate sound card, soundmax HD sound) ... ive had a sound blaster audigy 2 in the past and neither of the above cards have a patch on this, NO really! .. if you love games ... love to hear them in crystal clear digital 3D surround sound then look no further than this card! ... im using a Logitech Digital Precision PC Gaming Headset with this card, and the sound is honestly 3D and sounds really surround! ... even with a headset you can pin-point all sounds from every angle in games its hard to explain you would have to hear it to know what i mean, i didnt think it was possible with a headset, movies & music .. its crystal clear ... worth every penny! .. the card comes fitted with the bracket to fit the standard pc case however also included in the box is another bracket for the smaller pc case along with two driver discs, one for vista & one for xp along with some booklets & a manual ect.

Just be sure to download the latest drivers from the creative site, im on vista x64 and heres what i recommend you install.

First install the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Vista Driver 2.15.0004(latest drivers at the time of typing) ..

Then install Creative ALchemy (X-Fi Edition) 1.00.30(you need these for the full EAX effect in game in vista)

Then install the Creative Console Launcher 2.40.09, this is a nifty little tool that allows you to mess with the sound settings ect!(have a shortcut to this on your desktop or taskbar like i do for fast accees between gaming & entertainment mode ect)

All in all worth every penny! 5***** from me! :)

Installed the onboard sound of my Gigabyte GA-965-DQ6 motherboard.

My speakers are a creative T7900 7.1 and I've always had an issue where the 2 side speakers failed to work. THEY DO NOW!

The crystaliser does increase the quality of mp3 quality and adds more tone quality.

Awesome Awesome Awesome!
