Works well with Linux (Fedora, & Ubuntu)

os: Linux

Just a quick comment to say I was looking to buy one of these printers after using it at work. The print quality is fantastic, difficult to tell the difference between this and a cheap laser.

It works very well with Linux. I am using Fedora on my laptop and Ubuntu on desktop and HP supplies software that works great. The laptop I use at work hooks up to the printer over the network- something I thought would be a painful process to set up but actually very simple.

This printer works great and I am happy to print out important letters and documents on it.

I have given this a five star as I am yet to find a fault with it.

And if it works with Linux it will work with XP. HP I think released a fix for SP3 issue. Though I would recommend moving to Linux- I was at first very wary of moving over- but everything has worked great after I have- a real (good) change from windows.

Does not work with XP SP3
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

This printer does not work with XP SP3.

HP Tech support have just confirmed this to me and because Ebuyer only warrant the printer and not the software I am stuffed.

New drivers available

The latest XP drivers (released September 2008) are now available on the HP site and presumably address the SP3 problem.
