I suppose it may be pointless reviewing a new hard drive - the true test is 3 years down the line when it fails and you lose everything... Anyway, mine arrived as a bare drive in a jiffy bag but formatted fine in Windows to about 152GB. It seems to be a little noisier than my old Maxtor this has replaced but not annoyingly so. At this price though you cant really go wrong.

Good value for money, very quiet and compared to some of their older drives a lot cooler running.

When I have to replace older IDE drives this will be the one I go for.

I know the best time to review a HDD is after a couple years of use, but so far this drive works great... nice speed, and for the price i was very pleased, bought this as a backup drive for my pc.

I installed this drive into an eMac replacing an old 40gb 5400rpm drive. Once formatted and up and running i could really see the performance improvement! the OS runs alot better and data transfer/installation times are vastly improved (it took less than 15 minutes to intsall the entire Tiger OS)

The drive is quiet and runs as a cooler temp. It formatted to 149gb in disk utility, i think the drive will outlast the system tbh!

Nice Drive for price. Large storage for a little price. Am using the drive in a DivX player and it a good drive.

Took off 1 star as it hums a little more than my Western Digital drive.

reasons why it says it is 152 gig lol
review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

the allocation unit size of the hard drive space.....is why the drive quotes as being 152 gigs i think, you have a few choices 4096 bytes 2048 1024 and 512........ i think lol if you choose the smallest size you gain back...as much space as you can ** DO NOT TAKE THIS AS CONCRETE ITS JUST A THEORY** but the drive IS 160 gb exactly
also im not sure in the boot off cd installation yyou can choose the different sizes....may be able to but i never bother when building a system

First impressions are good
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

I received this drive before I expected, well done Ebuyer.

It came with a jumper, which was handy as I needed to set it as the secondary drive, so used the jumper in my primary drive, which is also a Maxtor. I have had this one for five years so hopefully this new one will last a while!

It is nice and quiet and so far, so good.

Will review when I have more info.
