Samsung Clx-2160 Colour Mfp Laser Printer
os:
Windows XPI've always had ink jet printers in the past(Epson,HP,Lexmark etc) and used to wonder where the manufacturers stated printed pages per minute figures came from, as I could only ever achieve about a half to a third of the figures that the various manufacturers said I should get!?. This printer DELIVERS what it says and good quality too.
Great little printer

Windows XPWe got one of these printers as the cost difference between a black and white and colour printer wasn't that much (especially considering how much a colour laser cost a couple of years back).
The printer only has a USB interface (there is a networked version available which is the CLX-2160N) and comes with the basics required to print and scan in Windows. The scanner driver appears to be a twain compatible driver so it should be supported on popular applications such as Office, Photoshop, The Gimp etc.
The setup was fairly easy. The 4 toner cartridges slot in the front of the printer behind a panel. The paper tray did take a bit of fiddling with but it wasn't too much bother. It does however stick out of the front of the printer by about 2 inches.
Not only can the printer print from Windows (and Linux if you download the correct driver from Samsung's site - I haven't tried this yet), it also supports scanning and printing to/from a USB memory stick which is handy if you have pictures that you want to print in a hurry or documents to scan. It even picks up directories too (it puts [D] in front of the directory name).
Navigation using the two line printer display and navigation buttons is fairly simple. It covers basic copying, printing and scanning.
The printer comes with the main manual on CD although there is a quick setup guide included. There isn't a USB cable included so if you haven't got one kicking around, make sure you order one. Any standard USB A to B type cable will do the job.
Overall we're really pleased with this purchase. It replaced an ageing HP OfficeJet multi function laser printer/copier/fax. It sits quite nicely in the corner and is fairly quiet in operation.
Consumables seem to be pretty cheap if you buy them in sets. Luckily with having separate toners for each colour you only need to replace the empty toner. According to the box the printer came in, it will print about 1,000 pages in black and 700 pages in colour (with 5% coverage) on the included toner. I'm not sure if new toner cartridges are the same or if they include any more toner. Still it should last us a while anyway.
Damn Right
Had this a little over 2 weeks now and what a buy, I paid 199.99 for this and although the price has dropped to 180, I am still happy with my buy!!!!
You wont be dissapointed!!!
Samsung clx 2160

Windows XPFor the money brilliant, good quality text and grapics easy to set, up easy to use, do toner changes in seconds, and at this moment the toner is nearly half price on ebuyer
ebuyer is first class and always very competitive on price 9 times out of ten the cheapest
Brilliant so far

Windows XPI have only had this printer for a week, but so far and very impressed with the print quality (coming from an inkject) and happy to no longer be dealing with a printer that rejects your perfectly good cartridges when it decides that they've been in for long enough (HP...beware!).
The replacement toners are very reasonable too. I would definitely recommend this product (and already have done).
Samsung Quality at fantastic price
os:
Windows XPThis is our first laser printer which we bought for our home office. The printer is compact, easy to setup and works a gem. Replacement toner cartridges appear to be cheaper than most (HP) although I think these are smaller. All in all a good all round colour printer, copier & scanner
note for linux users
os:
LinuxLinux Drivers
-------------
If you are a linux user, download the latest drivers from the samsung website.
The CD in the box only supports 4 distros (not including ubuntu) but the latest version is labelled as "unified".
Unfortunately, while these drivers do work, I've not been able to obtain the "crispness" of print when using linux that is possible when printing from windows :(
Installed Cartridges
--------------------
As with a number of printers, the initial cartridges are not "full", something like 1500 mono pages instead of 2000 and 500 colour pages instead of 1000 (5% coverage).
Rating
------
5 stars for hardware - but only 3 stars for software when using linux :( (windoze appears to be fine)
Great!

Windows VistaGreat little machine for home/office use, would reccomend to anyone. Very pleased. But just to let youy know it does not include the usb data cable.
Best printer purchase
os:
Windows VistaI almost didn't buy this printer because of its low price but I am so glad I did. This is an exceptional value printer, easy to set up and excellent print quality. If I had known there was a networked version I would have bought that, but I have no complaints about this printer at all. Manufactured to a very a high quality, I can see this printer lasting me a very long time. I simply cannot believe that this product can be shipped for such a low price, when you compare the price to other colour lasers by different manufacturers. If you're not sure what to do, let me be the one to say "buy it now!!!".
Small isnt in it!!
I do quite a lot of printing at hame and was finding it quite costly printing on my little HP inkjet, as I am not blessed with a mansion, my next printer had to be quite small. But this printer is no one trick pony....the prints are crisp and clear both mono and colour.
This is just a class act.
The toners are reasonable too!!!
