Like films, want blu ray at low cost, buy this!!!
Bought one of these, installed in 5 mins, sata data cable and sata power supply only, no molex connector, bought and installed power dvd ultra, rented pirates of caribbean from blockbuster, popped disc in drive, recognised straight away, picture is fantastic, running on evga 680i mobo with 2 gb of 6400 ram and 8800 vanilla gtx. Fantastic way to enjoy blu ray films at half cost of a standalone player!! Highly recommended. Make sure your graphics card and monitor have digital connection & hdcp.

Want Pioneer Blu Ray drive? Hate Intel and Use AMD? AMD mobo has SB600? Heres the solution ......
os:
Windows VistaI recently purchased the above blu ray drive without reading the small print.
I have always loved AMD over Intel so I refused to send back even though it is not compatible with the southbridge controller.
I had a look on the Pioneer website in the bid for a solution and found that the player is compatible with the sil 3132 sata chip.
I then found a PCI Express (x1) card on a famous auction site .... eBuyer do not sell them yet and purchased it.
Waited two days got the card and plugged it in ..... it worked first time. Cyberlink installed hired a couple of blu rays and was very impressed!
PCI x slots often go to waste, so for the .....

Windows Vista.....sake of 15 pounds and keeping AMD it was worth it.
In the auction site if you do a search for "pci express 3132" with the "Search title and description" box checked you will be greated with a wide selection of cards to choose from.
You cannot boot from this drive even with the card so will need a seperate dvd drive to install windows / linux.
This blu ray drive is so quiet, fast and burns DVD's!
I am not setting out to annoy intel fans, I simply prefer AMD and its my personal preference...... so I really do not want to hear your opinions!
Hope this helps
Specifications
This is a great drive for the money, but be warned don't try and play blu-ray movies on a non-hd capable graphics card you will actually cry, the performance is terrible. Also if you run the SB600 chipset on your mainboard switch it to IDE/Native mode and the drive will work correctly. I would recommend the ASUS 8600GT which ebuyer sell which is SILENT ideal for Media PC's. I have this card now and blu-ray looks sweet!! best software to use is PowerDVD 7.3 or above as it can decode DolbyTruHD to either DTS or AC3 if your a/v receiver does not support TruHD!!. Hope this helps anyone who's a bit stumped!
Great way to build your own BluRay player

Windows XPProbably the cheapest way to watch BluRay movies at the moment, but be aware that some had reported compatibility problems with AMD SATA controllers.
I got this drive along with a 65nm AMD X2 3800, Foxconn K8M890M2MA-RS2H and ATI HD2600pro. Now I just need to find a cheap internal HD-DVD drive and I will have the ultimate media centre.
Superb Blu-Ray Drive... Cheapest on the net!

Windows VistaIf you're looking for a low cost blu-ray player for the PC this is it!... Got this up and running in no time at all using Windows Vista 64bit, no driver's required... But you will need a software player to watch film's. I'm using PowerDVD 7 Ultra which works fine.
It does not come with drivers or any software only the instructions... Make sure you have a sata power connector as some older PSU's don't have them, if you do have an older one you can purchase a 4-pin molex to SATA power converter cable.
Buy it now! you won't be disappointed.
Region Code
Does anyone know what the default region code is on this?
In response to Stuart
Hi, this version does not come with drivers, they are already built into xp if your updated to the latest version, the drive is automatically recognised. Couldn't speak for retail version?
Excellent

Windows VistaHad this now for about 4 months and it is absolutly fantastic!
Running it with an E6600 overclocked to 3.10Ghz, Asus striker extreme 680i motherboard, 2GB OCZ 6400 SLI RAM overclocked to 950Mhz, X-fi extreme gamer sound card with 5.1 surround sound speakers and a Toshiba 26" HD TV.
The picture is just out of this world and the sound is amazing!
Well worth the money!!
