Unbeatable for the price...

LinuxExcellent - very small (that is depth wise), and built using mostly Solid Electrolytic capacitors where most important. No issues running XP or Ubuntu 7.10. Flys with an AMD 5200 x2 (Windsor/F3) particularly memory bandwidth. Will also take Phenom once the later 3.x BIOS is released. Only downside for me was the use of AMI BIOS rather than Award BIOS - nothing functionally wrong with it, just very minimalist and not very intuitive. Recommended.
Great MID range board

Windows XPCouple of months ago I bought an Abit KN9S motherboard. The system was meant for my relative but he never had any peace with it as it kept on giving him trouble i.e. freezing, restarting computer etc. To isolate the problem we tried various things including changing different parts. It didn't work finally we changed the motherboard.
Glad we did, it resolved the problem! This MSI motherboard small and nice. Well laid out and is clearly a solid mid range board. The NForce chipset is great coupled sound bus speed. So far stable, no issues identified. MSI are also renowened so you can expect reliabilty. No complaint so far, hence has to be 5/5.
Good But Mind The Power

Windows XPThis worked fine for me in a new build for a freind. However this board needs a good PSU. I had originally put it on a 400w Psu and it would work fine untill it had to run something taxing then it would lock up and crash comstantly. Good stable board otherwise.

"You only get one IDE interface, so if you were thinking of getting this mobo to upgrade an existing, older, PC, don't try it. "
"The spec says it has an IDE interface that supports two devices e.g. HDD + DVD, so why not? Perhaps the supplied IDE cable only supports one device but that shouldn't be a problem."
Think about it. An older PC (of course that is a very general term here) could most likely have 2 optical drives + a HDD. Thats what I come across a lot mostly on PC's that are approx 4 years old and were made by bulk distributors like Dell, Compaq etc.
2 ports on an IDE cable would not suffice in this case.
Its not worth the hassle upgrading old PC's. For 100 quid on top of the new parts you would be getting, you could have a whole new system, all barring the flat-screen TFT.
It's called RAM for a reason!!

Windows XPBought this with:
119582 - PSU
135650 - Processor
139662 - RAM
133002 - Graphics Card.
Once I put it all toghether I had no graphics. After lots of head scratching and speakin to Ebuyer tech support returned mainboard to them. It tested OK and they returned it to me. Problem was I hadn't pushed RAM all the way home (you have to push the RAM all the way until you get second click -doh!)
Upgraded my previous MSI K7 series to this. It is great value for money. My son plays online (World of Warcraft) and says this setup if much quicker.
Amazing Value.

Windows VistaOk, the thing to remember with this motherboard is it's sub-£50, mmkay?
I'm a casual gamer, and for me, this motherboard is perfect. I don't need a core 2 duo, I'm happy with an Athlon X2, so this mobo is fine. It lets me use my GeForce 8800, which makes me very happy indeed. I don't need SLi. When 9 series graphics cards are released, I'll probably get one when they've gone down in price slightly. I don't need 16gb of gas cooled ram that is capable of tearing a hole in the universe, I'm happy with 2gb of ddr2 667mhz. I do however want a dependable motherboard, that can take a dual core. I want PCI-Express x 16. I want a decent BIOS with a number of goodies like auto overclocking, plus any and all other things the casual gamer wants, without digging too deep in my pocket. In short, this motherboard gives all that and more; sata2 hard drives are supported, saving a load of time, it can suport up to 8gb of ram, which is also going to come in useful in the future I am sure. It also anticipates the day PCI-e will be used instead of PCI by giving you a couple of PCI-e x 1 slots! ... and you get 3 bog standard PCI slots for all your other cards. The sound quality, though not amazing, is better than any other onboard sound card I have ever run in to, so few complaints there. Features like the standard 4 back facing USB ports also mean this motherboard can live up to what you expect in more mundane work-related tasks; it doesn't sacrifice the everyday functionality that one needs.
There are however a couple of minor (and they are really minor) drawbacks. You only get one IDE interface, so if you were thinking of getting this mobo to upgrade an existing, older, PC, don't try it. :P
Oh, and it can be a bit of a nightmare to wire up, the labelling is total... well, suffice to say it isn't very well labelled.
Other than these two issues, this is by far and away the best mobo for your well clued-up casual gamer. That's why I love it to bits, and if my review describes what you're looking for, then it's probalby right for you as well. As I said before, it's less than £50!!

Windows XPi woldent update to the v3 beta bios i had problems doing this myself as i had inteended to buy phenom which this board supports i flashed it said was sucsefull rebooted pc woldent do anything no post zero took back to shop they tested said broke replaced for me i asked on a forum why they said i needed to put phenom in ater v3 bios upgrade aperntly them bios only support phenom apart from that and the fact that i paid 56 pound for this board which is to much and the daft placemnt of floppy connector there is not to much wrong with it for the casual gamer i can play cod4 and crysis with it so works for me:)
Fine Board

Windows VistaBought this board upgrading my system.Bought MSI on the last 3 systems and found them to be reliable.Boot up recognised my AM2 5600 no problems 2x800 1 gig kingston memory.
This board will go AM2+ with a bios upgrade, check out CPU support on the MSI site.Found the sound to be particulary good.
Bios easy to configure supports AMD quiet and cool.Only issue I found was the dual core monitoring software which has unsigned drivers.Downloaded latest version from MSI but still issues. However excellent board for the money.
Nice board with one fault
os:
Windows XPBought this to run a 4800 x2 with 2 meg of 800 ddr ram.
This it did perfectly until I upgraded the standard AMD cooling fan. Processor runs a fair bit cooler but the new cooler (alpine 64) covers memory slots 1 and two. Surprised to find also that the bios did not recognise the processor as a 2.5 so had to overclock to even get to the correct figure. Not a board for overclockers imho. But not too bad at the price.
Mobo Layout
os:
Windows XPIt's a nice motherboard, I fail to see why anyone would pay more...
Anyway, I have a Leadtek Winfast Geforce 8800GTS which has quite a large cooler on it, this sits directly above the SATA ports, so I had to buy some right angled SATA cables because I couldn't fit standard ones in :(
Otherwise, it ticks all the boxes, is reliable as usual from MSI and doesn't cost much
