Excellent hard drive.

As usual, excellent Seagate quality and totally silent when running.

Like all Seagate drives, it comes with a 5 year warranty as standard. I just checked mine and it's until October 2012!

And yes, it's slimmer than most 3.5" drives because it runs off one platter.

For 41.29 GBP (the review form won't allow me to put a Pound sign in), it's a bargain!

Obviously since it's OEM, you don't get cables and stuff. I ordered mine and when it came, I realised that I had forgotton to order a Molex>SATA power adapter but luckily I had a spare one lying about...

Excellent drive and fast shipping as usual by Ebuyer.

Enjoy.

NICE FAST QUIET SATA II DISK
review by: Michael Nixonrating:
customer rating
os: Not Applicable

The drive is a lot quieter and faster than my Western Digital 160GB IDE drive - and it's also slightly slimmer than most 3.5" HDDs.

This drive is actually faster at times than the specification - I have attained 90MB/sec continuous throughput during some tests whereas seagate quote 70MB/sec. Heat dissipation isn't bad at all either.

This is a good value drive for those wishing to start out with a new SATA system and needing a reasonably sized disk without spending a fortune.

Beware OEM to u need to create dos partition
review by: greg christie os: Windows XP

I write this while the new disk is formatting.

CONNECTORS

As this is an OEM drive... as most OEM drives it comes with no molex to sata power connector, or a sata data cable. Yr power supply may come with the right connetor already and you motherboard may come with a sata cable in the box... If you have neither of these you will need to buy them.

BARE DRIVE

Again as this is an OEM drive as many it comes unformatted and with no dos partition... so unless you know how to create a Primary Dos Partion you will struggle. If you have no PDP winxp will detect the drive but you will not be able to see it on my computer. Once you have created a PDP windows will ask if you wanna format it... of course you do.

SATA1 & SATA2

If u wann run this as a sata1 then u leave the jumper on... If u want it to run sata2 remove it.

WARRENTY ... check that the 5 year warrenty is valid on Seagates website before u innstall.

INSTALLATION SUPPORT ... good help on Seagates website.

Bought two of those to set as RAID 0, works great, very quit and produces no so much heat.

Drives are quit slim, not as big as ususal, so has some space for ventilation.

Good all rounder.

Good hard drive

This hard drive is quiet and cool. Would have paid the little extra for a 500Gb but was on a tight budget.

Using only ebuyer I managed to build a budget PC capable of playing Crysis (all be it not at top spec) for less than 300 pounds.

I have bought this HDD back in november from this very website and so far it has been very impressive.

very cool running very quite and great overall.

Also the 5 year standard warranty is amazing which means your protected for ages and by the time it runs out you'll probably need a new PC anyway!!
