Wow. What a mouse.
os:
Windows XPGot the mouse today, I spent about 10 minutes setting up the different profiles and I was ready to play medal of honour allied assault multiplayer, I was much more accurate. Finding it a lot easier to aim. I got top scorer 4 out of 5 rounds. Before with my razor diamondback I was top scorer normally 1 out of every 10 rounds.
This mouse is awesome. One thing I like is I can select a different profile for different games and programs. Like one for Microsoft word and one for standard desktop use. When I minimises to desktop the mouse changes profile automatically.
Worth every penny.
Well worth it

Windows XPI was a bit unsure about spending nearly FIFTY QUID on a mouse, but I can say after a couple of days use...it is well worth it!
I had a G3 before and then fancied an upgrade so got a Razer Copperhead, which was a mistake!! It had plenty going for it but did not fit my hand well and the thumb buttons were nearly impossible to use, and I won't go into the dodgy firmware and driver problems!
So, after a sharp intake of breath I bought the G9. It is simply fantastic, fits my hand so well, thumb buttons well placed, soooo smooth and the wheel is superb(especially in free-wheel mode). You can even change the LED to whatever colour you want and I hear Logitech will be bringing out different grips for it.
I guess you get what you pay for after all!!
Fantastic!

Windows VistaThis beauty is amazing! Not only does it look superb, but the technological quality of this beast is brilliant.
Supplied with two detachable grips: Precision (grainy, claw) and XL (rubber, palm). Precision offering more agile finger-tip control and XL allowing for a more relaxed hold.
An on-mouse (button) changable DPI setting from 200 to 3200 using the G9's 'gaming-grade laser' as well as the provision of four 4g and four 7g weights, that which you can insert four of any combination into the mouse tray that releases and inserts back into the mouse.
Various buttons/controls including the scroll, two main finger, side thumb and DPI adjustment. As well as underneath there being one to switch between slide and click scrolling and another to switch between profiles which are created using the SetPoint software provided and stored within the G9's in-built memory.
On top of the mouse there is a small LED lit screen which shows your current profile and DPI setting. You can apply a different colour light to each profile, making the design of the G9 just that bit more incredible.
Build quality is excellent and possibly unflawed. This is undoubtfully one of the best gaming mice out to date. Logitech's wireless version is the MX Revolution which although stands as a great alternative, if you have a spare USB port you certainly won't mind the fabric coiled wire that the G9 uses - with its highly protective and non-tangle capability.
I would also like to say thanks to Ebuyer for the quickest and most perfect delivery ever.
Excellent Mouse

LinuxThis mouse is excellent, had it for many months now and still stand by my initial impressions.
My only (very trivial) moan is that the XL cover for it, after months of use, the "skin" of the mouse peels away from it, leaving behind a very firm and harsh feel to it - but the peel is minor.
This is pretty impertinent, but I hate it when my expensive gadgets get marks or scratches on them. Maybe I'm just weird.
Overall, excellent mouse. Well worth the money, better than any Razer or other types of Logitech mouse going.
Nice
This is a great piece of kit, some may think its slightly expensive for a mouse but the interchangable mouse bodies and button placement are ideal if you play alot of games.
Works with Ubuntu
os:
LinuxSelected this mouse as I've been using a Logitech MX1000 for a few years now, in fact I've owned two of those excellent mice.
Anyway after a quick hunt around and looking at the Razer mice which had poor support and lack of working 'extra' features I opted for this Logitech G9, at worst it looked like a simple xorg.conf edit to make all buttons work. What a surprise to plug it in and find all buttons configured and working 100% without touching any configs or installing anything extra. It could be that the button mapping I had setup for the Logitech MX1000 is the same as this so your milage may vary. The location of the xorg.conf edit for any other Ubuntu users in case they need it is:

The sensitivity adjustment is onboard the mouse and works just fine and is not OS dependant, changing the colours of the LED's is possible but involves plugging it into a Windows PC to change before plugging it back in your linux PC (not something I will be doing, Windows free here) that solution is also on Ubuntu forums just search.
Quality of the mouse is brilliant at this early stage of use, it feels solid with the extra weights installed, I may reduce that from the maximum 28g at a later date but at the moment it feels 'right'. The MX1000 will be missed on my desktop as I have used it for so long and it had become an extension of my arm, The G9 feels smaller in my hand than the MX1000 and I think it is definitely a much better fit for my small hands, it is flatter with less of a hump and the thumb buttons feel to be closer to the left mouse button, making them much easier to reach without the slight adjustment I had to make with the MX1000.
All in all I am so far very impressed by the mouse, it feels solid and I hope it proves as reliable as the MX1000.
Great Mouse

Windows XPAt first, I was a little skeptic at ordering this mouse as I had seen pictures of it on various websites, and I wasn't all that impressed. It appeared blocky, and looked uncomfortable to hold. Boy, was I wrong. The reviews praised this thing to no extent, so I decided to gamble my cash on it. And I am glad I did.
Not only is this mouse precise and comfortable to hold with the optional rubber casing, the modifications you can make to tailor it to your exact specifications are amazing, with it's 4 and 7g weight cartridges and sensitivity-changing buttons.
I previously had a Logitech G5 which recently died on me. The G5 was my favourite of the mice I had ever owned, and still this mouse has proven to be a worthy successor.
Would recommend this phenomenal mouse to all.
Amazing...

Windows XPUpgraded from my Logitech mouseman to this G9 and I can't believe how much better this is. It is exceptionally smooth on a wood surface and the interchangeable shell is much more than a gimmick. Although some of the other features may be a little pointless for the non-gamer - having the ability to save the profiles on the mouse itself without fiddling with drivers is a big step in the right direction. I must applaud Logitech as this is a well-thought out product for gamers. My friend has a G5 and this is most definitely an "upgrade" and not just a new shell with the same inner workings. Although fifty quid is a little steep - I think it is worth it...just.
Covers?
os:
Windows VistaIve had this mouse since it came out and its been grand. Only bother is the cover i have been using is starting to peel and i dont want to use the smaller one as its too small for me. Part of the reason i bought this was because of the ability to change the covers but as yet i have been unable to find any alternatives to buy or even a replacement for the ones that come with it. Anyone know hwere you can purchase the covers?
