....But how well does it overclock?
os:
Windows VistaOverclocking. Thats what we all want to know. Obviously this performs well, it's a quad!
These G0's will overclock slightly better than the older Q6600's as they use less power = so dont get as hot.
My Q6600 'G0' stepping, AKA 'SLACR' will reach 3.6GHz stable on my Asus Blitz Formula motherboard, using water cooling.
The other Q6600 G0 i purchased, reached 3.25GHz on just 1.42v with stock heatsink on a EVGA 680i SLI motherboard - This was not it's limit but because i was selling this computer i didn't want to risk it overheating so didn't clock it higher.
Best CPU I've ever bought
os:
Windows VistaI've been using AMD cpu's for quite some time now and stupidly bought a 5200+ dual core a few months back only to feel like a complete mug by just going for clock speeds and not reading reviews and getting an E6600 instead. Lesson learned!! AMD and ATI have been going completely downhill for a while now and there's no point at this time letting loyalties leave you with second rate goods.
I have Quite easily overclocked this CPU (in an ASUS P5K-E) to 3.6GHz by simply turning the cpu frequency to 400 keeping the multiplier to 9 and upping the voltage (on this board) to 1.45v which actually works out as 1.41v according to the latest Eversest Ultimate and the DDR2 6400 (Corsair Dominator and Patriot) to 1.9v. Everything else is on auto. I used the Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro Socket 775 Processor Cooler that came in a bundle deal and not only is that the easiest fan ever to install it's completely kick ass at cooling this beast. Under full load over time this CPU never gets hardly above 50 degrees!! Just trying certain multi-Threaded apps such as Nero Vision 4 to re-encode a movie to DVD shaved Half an hour off the total time taken to do the task, 31 mins and the film was on disk. These G0's are the best thing since slice bread.
Overview
For the person who asked for the FPO#, the processor does not come in a Intel box. It comes in a tiny black box with no markings on it. Inside is 2 bits of foam stuff with the chip in the middle with a cover on the socket side.
For the person asking heatsink/fan, there is none included in this box.
Does the job with a fantastic price

Windows VistaJust taken delivery of this today along with the Thermalright Ultra-120 (Also from ebuyer Quickfind code 128984)
It's well worth every penny. Put this onto the Gigabyte P35C-DS3R motherboard. awesome. :D Thanks ebuyer for the price and the service.
Quad Core - Wait No More!
os:
Windows VistaBought this Quad Core Q6600 4 weeks ago and installed it into my new gaming machine. Overclocked straight to 3.0ghz (333 x 9) straight away, raised the vcore to 1.35 but only needs 1.26 to run. Tested in 3DMark05 and let me tell you, this mother flies. Set up with a P5KC and 8800GTX OC and Vista 32 ande havn't had one problem. For the price, this quad is god!
Wow!
os:
Windows VistaI wasn't sure whether to believe the hype over this cpu but it really is fast!
I used to have a Pentium D 945 3.4Ghz, in itself not a slow cpu but the difference is amazing.
I ran a Pi calcuation test to 1000000. Result: Pentium D: 47 seconds. Quad: 21 seconds!
Again, I do a lot of dvd editing and compression. What was taking an average of 20-25mins on the Pentium D took under 10 minutes on the quad!
Haven't even tried to overclock yet. And i'm still using pc2-6400 ram. When I upgrade to the pc2-8500 I will see what this thing can really do!
Just buy it, you won't regret it.
Awesome kit and service

Windows XPGreat piece of kit and the best price on the net. Buy this together with the Arctic Freezer Pro and this wll easily go to 3.4ghz ( fsb 385 ) with little uptick in heat ( 40c ) but you can go even further - 3.6ghz+ and if you have water coolings i've seen 4ghz+..!! This is great "bang for buck", just make sure you pair this with a decent mobo to do it justice..

quality CPU eventually overclocked it
os:
Windows VistaFantastic CPU. I found it hard to overclock only because i'm a noob to it.
heres what I did to overclock on a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R Motherboard
CPU Clock 8x
CPU Host MHZ 400
System Memory Multiplier 2.00
HighSpeed DRAM DLL (Option 2)
Sytem Voltage (Manual)
DDR2/DDR3 Overvoltage +0.2
(G)MCH Overvoltage +0.2
I achieved 3.20GHZ with a Arctic Freezer Pro
Over Clocked to 3.20 Ghz
As mentioned below I found these settings worked where others did not.
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R Motherboard
CPU Clock 8x
CPU Host MHZ 400
System Memory Multiplier 2.50
HighSpeed DRAM DLL (Option 2)
Sytem Voltage (Manual)
DDR2/DDR3 Overvoltage +0.2
(G)MCH Overvoltage +0.2
I achieved 3.20GHZ with an Arctic Freezer Pro also.
My CPU temp at full load is about 38c. Idle is 30c.
I have the Antec Atlas Tower with the Antec 550w PSU
Crucial DDR2 1066 RAM
2 * 500 Seagate 32mb SATA drives.
In all a great value CPU and the first to take me away from AMD for 10 years.
awesome!!!

Windows XPthis is a very good processor it can run anything i throw at it. as it is the "go stepping" version it changes it speed depending on what you are doinghence it is alot cooler than the normal version ( 36 degrees ) with stock fan. i ran CPUZ and it told me the processor was running at 1.6ghz is that because it was idle? anyone know please reply overall it is a great piece of kit!! im using it with an XFX 680 SLI motherboard and it eats games for breakfast ;-)
