Quality Control Inspector no. 5 - You're fired!
os:
Not ApplicableI've had this for about a week now. It was DOA but I noticed a flash of light when I unplugged it for return. The screw on the neutral connection in the plug wasn't tightened!
The link to: http://www.vistron.tv/dvd_DHR5001.php
is correct, but the manual calls it DHR-5006.
The manual is A4 and quite comprehensive but there are one or two errors or outdated areas that lead to confusion. Fortunately the on-screen instructions and help are good. Dubbing from HDD to DVD seems about 2 or 3 times speed at highest quality i.e. copying 1hr from HDD to DVD takes about 20-30 mins. I assume this will be quicker at SP etc.
Lots of connections at the back and front as pictured.
About as noisy as a fairly quiet PC when running and, of course, silent on standby.
I tried ASDA DVDs and had some write errors but Pleomax ones are working faultlessly, so I will stick to quality disks.
The buttons on the remote are very stiff and quite 'hard work'.
The big button on the right glows red or blue (standby/on).
As long as this is proves reliable and lasts a long time I will consider this a very good buy.
Can anyone get this machine to record??
os:
Windows VistaI have had this machine for 3 months. Neither I or a the very expensive TV engineer can work out how to get the thing to record. The manual bears no relation to the words/figures which appear on the face.
Any tips would be useful.
Have already spent twice the cost of the machine on TV engineers trying to get it to work!!
Tuner type?
Does anyone know if this has Freeview tuner built in?
Extra Value DHR-5006 HDD DVD Recorder 250Gb
Does anyone know if this is a twin tuner?
Re: Specs and other info
DigitalSpy.co.uk has lots of useful info on digital telly. Especially the forum where you can find a lot of unpublished info and opinions
No Freeview
This does have an analogue TV tuner but no Freeview or digital tuner.
I Think This is a DHR-5001
I am about to buy this on the following assumptions. Firstly, this is not actually a DHR-5006, in fact there is no such thing as a DHR-5006, according to the Vistron HP at http://www.vistron.tv/dvd_DHR5001.php Instead, I think this is the only other listed DHR a DHR-5001.
