Great light versatile player
os:
Windows VistaI have had the Creative Zen 8GB for a few days now and I have not been disappointed. The player is small and very light with an excellent display. The music sounds clear and punchy. Also has a great "DJ" playlists that give choices like "play rarely heard tracks" or "Album of the day".
Videos look and sound good on the player but the spec is misleading because it does play divx's but only if the bit rate and sound codex is what it's expecting. Luckily the software has a conversion process (I download from the software from the creative site; I presume that it comes on the CD but I've not checked).
Unable to comment on the battery as it's not discharged yet and I have been using it for about 6 hours (mostly music) and it's still showing full power.
Note: the player only comes with a USB adapter to recharge the power, so if you are buying this for a holiday and not taking a laptop then invest in the creative power supply.
Note 2: the earphones are decent but like most players out on the market better quality ones maybe necessary.
This bit of Kit is A1
This is a brilliant bit of kit. I received it 4 days before going on holiday and was especially glad of it on the return journey with a 3hr delay at the airport. I got the 8gb one. I have about 200 tunes, 200 photos, 12ish short vids's and 3 full length films. And there is still about 6gb of space left. Its better than I was expecting.
The quality and ease of navigation of the unit Is very good. Picture and sound is very good. All in all for the money its A1 and thats the reasons for the five stars from me.
Perfect!

Not ApplicableBrilliant piece of kit. I bought the 16gb version does everything its supposed to do. my gripes are...
no physical volume control (i.e. no buttons or wheel to adjust volume)
short usb cable (10cm roughly)
inability to copy between player and sd card
I can't seem to use folders to organise my music everything else is out of this world. looks good, feels good. video is immense, sound is incredible.
Better than anticipated

Windows XPI bought this only thinking about its size and smart appearance, but after I ordered it I thought "damn, will it be too small to read subtitles on anime?", well to my suprise, the screen quality, crispness and also the size isnt too small allow me to watch anime with subtitles on with no difficulty reading them. Recommended player, and the 8gb/SD expansion capabilities are great for the price... only downside to this is that u cannot use it as a "digital wallet" transfering between the SD/8gb on the fly.
Creative ZEN - Digital player 8G
os:
Windows XPAn excellent piece of kit that does what it says on tin, but with style and functionality to boot !
Well worth the asking price now that the cost has fallen !
Nice but not AMAZING

Windows XPWell I bought mine on ebay and I've had it for a few weeks now, so thought I'd leave a review seeing as hardly anyone else has!
Overall the player is nice, really is the size of a credit card with a nice and sharp screen. Sound is good, but to be honest, compared to my old zen jukebox which I had before, probably wasn't any better (and I used better earphones then the ones supplied.
The USB cable is pretty small, this is ideal if u have a laptop, not if you have a desktop pc with no usb slots available on the front.
What I didn't like, as stated before was that the info was a bit misleading, I bought this hoping I could quickly transfer videos and movies onto my SD card and play them, but you have to convert all the videos which was really annoying I found.
Another few small things like the when you play a song from the memory card, u cant return and search through your list of songs while the song is still playing, it will stop. If your in the middle of a song and switch the player off (on memory card) it won't remember where you left off.
The rest is pretty much as described... To be honest I was going to get the Ice mp4 player thats going on ebuyer for about GBP55 last time i checked (4gb version)... Had I known I had to convert divx and video files with the zen, I would have probably gone for the Ice mp4 player which has some good reviews but haven't tested myself.
Tips for Londoners: I used an Oyster card wallet as a case for this, slotted in perfectly and you can use the other pocket to put your memory card in :D ... best of all it was free lol
I rated it 4/5 because of the conversion for video files.
Nice but not AMAZING

Good bit of kit!

Not ApplicableFor the price I can not fault it. Does exactly what I want and thats good enough for me.
Ordered Sunday 2nd Dec free posting and arrived mid day Tuesday 4th. Brilliant service.
Very nice product - but know what you buy
os:
Windows XPBe aware of that it is not possible to copy files between the memory card and the player, if you are looking for a "digital wallet" you will have to look elsewhere.
Apart from that, this is a brilliant product, it does the job with no fuss, the function keys are logical and works well and the screen is very good - smooth picture and nice colour reproduction. Radio autoscan also works without problems. The look and feel of the player is also nice, but the buttons could had higher finish.
The firmware is likely to be a few upgrades from perfect, my first player had a system crash and completely died after I reset it. This slightly marred my enthusiasm for the player and the questionable system stability is the difference between a 5 and a 4 star.
Microphone Record Time Limit?
Hi, can any kind person or ebuyer please tell me if there is a record time limit. Often devices that have record feature stop after 2 minutes ish. I want to record lectures so a key feature for me. Thanks!
Also is there a max SDHC card size? Some devices of other brands I found maxed out at 2GB.
Cheers
Hi, Reply:
An ideal upgrade for your existing CCTV system or a great unit to use as the heart of a new system, this Digital Video Recorder (DVR) records up to 4 cameras directly to its built in Hard Drive in high resolution digital quality. The unit will also record audio from one camera and has a massive 160GB hard drive for up to 2 months of recording.
Hope this helps.
