Great price for an 8Gb drive. Made of matt black plastic. It's very light, and the cap is a nice secure click-on fit. There's a small green led just behind the Freecom badge, and a VERY small hole for attaching a cord or keyring.

I bought one of these after purchasing a Freecom hard drive, as a more portable measure.

Cant believe you can actually store 8GB on here, I'm an architect and manage to fit all my work on here on daily basis

fantastic

review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

To the person who asked why it doesnt work in a usb 1.1 port, I guess USB 2.0 in the title has something to do with it

It is USB 1.1 compatible
review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

YES IT IS 1.1 COMPATIBLE. All USB 2.0 devices are 1.1 compaible - it's built into the spec. Usb 1.1 has a data transfer rate of 12Mbps as opposed to the 480Mbps of USB 2.0 so it will be slow.

USB2 - USB 1.1
review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

Just a note - USB 2 is backward compatable with 1.1, so *theoretically* this should work in both - despite comments indicating otherwise on this page.

If yours doesn't work, I'd double check the connections and bung it in a different pc - maybe your device is duff?

Speed test data for this USB drive

Having got this drive, I assumed it would be super fast. On my Asus Centrino Duo (1.6GHz, 1GB DDR-667) laptop, using HD Tach test software from www.simplisoftware.com, the average read speed is 15.4Mb/sec burst, 15.2Mb/sec average.

So not brilliant, but not too bad. Would anyone else like to post their findings?
