ASUS M2A-VM HDMI MOTHERBOARD.

Very easy to setup, fitted into an antec v2 media case, no real problems at all, would recomend installing the hdmi expansion card, after you've put on your os of choice. The onboard graphics work fine, and despite what you read else where the UMA can be set to share up to 512mb. The only downside, that some people might find, is the hdmi rise sits in the pci express x16 slot, but as my intentions for this board were for a media pc, then thats not really a problem, i now have it plugged into my samsung 32" tv and the picture looks great. If yout thiniking about building a media pc this is a great place to start!

Great motherboard, Good On-Board Graphics, HDMI on seperate PCI card, not suited for slim case, but giving it a 4/5 for that isnt fair, its your fault.

Very quick boot up into OS with AMD 64 X2 and 2gb RAM, less than 30 seconds. You can allocate upto 512mb memory to on-board graphics.

One little problem I had was the mobo didnt detect my optical drives until I changed the settings for the IDE in BIOS.

Great Performace and at a good price too!

5 stars!

Not as bad as I first thought

Reviewed this board earlier...

Picked this mobo for a media pc for a client. Initially, I had no end of problems with distorted sound and glitchy graphics.

I was just about ready to RMA the board, but searching online I found many other people who had the very same problems. Each time it was down to the ram and bios revision.

It seems that in machines with 3 or more gigs of ram, the bios can't handle it and throws up all manner of problems.

Easy solution. Upgrade the bios to version 1603 (the latest), and all the problems go away.

The board now is great. A nice selection of connectivity, and the onboard graphics work fine with vista's aero interface.

Plenty of sata and usb ports is also a bonus.

Only niggle really is that the card supplied for hdmi and spdif is full height. With this board aimed at multimedia/htpc applications i.e. half height media cases, you have to ask what were they thinking!

5 stars none the less :)

Got this as a replacement for a Foxcon board which was DOA, this one is bullet proof, Asus seem to make the most reliable boards and have good drivers and support which are regularly updated.

Has all the bits in the box to get it working with HDMI and component outs on riser board whilst main board has D-sub and DVI and all for a bargain price.

Recommended.

This mother board was just what i was looking for, i needed a media pc to hook up to my HD samsung 42" plasma. with the HDMI card i had crystal clear images even the text on windows XP was clear, Just make sure the screen resolution for the TV are supported by the on-board graphics. Bios enables overclocking if thats what your into and offers some nice fetures. Only problem i had was the driver CD was damaged and unreadable but the drivers where easily downloaded. If your after an easy solution for a media PC buy this.

SOLID BASIC BOARD

Purchased this instead of the MSI simply because this allows you to play around with the multiplier and bus speed. The preloaded BIOS is weak but updating it is simple, it can be done through windows using the supplied software. Very happy, the foundations for a good Home Entertainment System.

Had to return this board, processor and memory as all three items were faulty. Decided to give board another go as used ASUS motherbords in past with no problem. Second one cant fault. Hit & miss with recogniseing memory correctly but after latest bios update all is well. Thanks ASUS for a great motherboard and thanks ebuyer for a great deal and great service and support.

This is a nice piece of a kit at a very reasonable price. I was as looking for a cost effective solution to plug in to an LCD TV and this has worked well. I bought an Athlon x2 4800+ along with 1GB ram and i can spin movies at 720p resolution effortlessly.

My only minor criticism was with the installer disc. I selected the option to install all drivers and it took me a while to work out why i had no audio through the HDMi cable, anyway after reopening the disk and manually installing the HDMI driver all was well.

I like Asus and would happily recommend this board.
