I pod touch fantastic
os:
Not ApplicablePurchased an 8gb for my wife from Apple when it first came out, blown away by it, Wifi internet access is fantastic, Photo album is amazing, love the video functionality, some great programs out there that let you rip your DVD's and pop them on the I touch, the 8gb holds a suprising amount of Video, ideal if your traveling on a train or plane.
Couple of niggles, no games available yet to play on it offline, if you have in your pocket and you want to move on a track or turn the volume up or down it's not possible without a remote and there are not any reasonabily priced ones to do this, my old Nano radio tuner/remote is not compatable.
Loved it so much got a 16GB for myself.
Cheaper to run than an iphone but will all the best features of the i phone.
Buy one, your love it..
Amazing!
This thing is truly awesome. You don't realise how so until you actually get your hands on one.
Its uber thin (even thinner than the motorolla v3) but sturdy and has that pleasing level of attention to detail that we have come to expect from Apple.
It's the iPhone, without any of the phone features. (and 8GB more space for the price) :)
Apple release the official software development kit for it in Feb '08 which means there will be even more awesome 3rd party apps for it. You could call it a pocket mac really ;)
Expensive, but far more than just an iPod.
Amazing Device !

Windows Vista
I got one about two weeks back, and its an amazing thing, technology has moved so fast. I have jailbroken mine and now have loads new apps to install with cool new themes with summerboard. Its gorgeous. I managed to get mine for an extremely low price (check out freegoodiesguide - google it). I canot stop playing with it, and recomened everyone to get one !, 16 gig is plenty, you have to charge it every 2 days or so, so then you can update and change your albums then !
iPod Touch
os:
Windows VistaLet me start by saying that this is probably the best media player ever made. It may not have the capacity of others, or the size, but believe me, when you are hold it in your hand and scroll through your music you realize what a thing of beauty this is.
This is an excellent price for the 16GB touch, I got mine from the apple.com/uk - where i had it engraved - although you cant get it engraved here it is 20 quid cheaper. I'm not going to go through all of the good things about this player as you can read them in many places, and probably already know them, I'll talk about using the iPod, and day to day life.
Firstly, it is very easy to scratch the back, the front seems pretty hardy - but the chrome on the back is very susceptible to scratches to scratching so i always keep mine in a sock.
The battery life is pretty good, it wont last you a week, but if you keep playing music, and don't use the screen that much it does last a few days.
So far, I have been unsuccessful getting the iPod onto the internet at my school and other places where i can get a signal. This may not be the iPod's fault, but it is quite tricky to get a connection. Many other people have been online with theirs, so I know it does work, but it may be harder to connect than the advertisements makes you believe.
Other niggles with the iPod have been that you cannot add events to your calendar on the go, this has been rectified with update 1.1.2, so you can now add events to your calender via the iPod.
iPod Touch or iPhone?
This really boils down to how much you want to store on your iPod, whether you have a phone that you like already and how much money you have. If money is a problem, then go with the iPod Touch, as the iPhone will cost you about 1000 in 18 months, on the minimum contract. Instead, you can but the 16GB touch, and a pretty decent phone for under 400, giving you 600 to spend on other stuff. There are rumors that the iPhone is not all that good compared to other phones. This may be so, but so are iPods compared to other MP3 players, like the Archos' media players and Creative's mp3 players. Apple does elegance very well, and puts together astounding pieces of kit. Personally, i prefer the look of the iPod Touch much more than the iPhone.
In the end, it's up to you. You don't have to listen to a word i have written. But you can still take the advice and opinion of someone who has taken the plunge and bought one... and has never regretted it :)
(Some prices do not have pound signs because it wouldn't let me post it unless i removed them)
Does not come with extra apps
os:
Windows XPJust got my Ipod Touch delivered today. I can confirm that it does not come with the new 1.4 apps (mail etc) which is probably why its priced lower than everywhere else.
Ipod Touch
Just to confirm the Ipod touch and Iphone are 2 seperate products although look similar. The ipod touch cannot be used as a phone and you do not have to get this on a contract. It is an ipod with extra features.
You cant TOUCH this!!!
