Perfect for Aluminium PowerBook G4

Bought it for my PB G4 as a replacement for 80GB Toshiba IDE hard drive.

First of all, a word of praise for eBuyer stuff who proved very efficient in processing my order.

A word of warning - if you intend on putting it in yourself - it can be a bit tricky. Luckily, there is a full set of instructions with photographs on iFixIt. Once replaced, I had to partition it with Disk Utility and away I went, installing Tiger. Working absolutely great, much better than Toshiba - faster and quieter at the same time.

Overall am very pleased with my purchase. Price is very competitive too - I paid bp77 in January, still the lowest I could find.

Best Hard drive maker to date!

The amount of time I have used western digital drives going on 8 years now, they have never let me down once I still have the Caviar 40GB the drive is around 8 years old and been in 2 diffrent PC's and still going strong in my old Mesh AMD machine that I have since given to my younger brother, Western Digital drives are the most reliable brand to date, I would recommend 250/500GB models for IDE or otherwise for SATA I would recommend Western Digital Raptor drives.

Great hard-drive with a great price, hav'nt seen one this big at this price, would recomend, runs alot better than the toshiba 80GB one Used to have. Makes my Intel Celeron M Proscssor run like an intel core duo (when i put in the ebuyers own 1gb ram). Is a little fidily to install but fits in the end, (I put it in an acer Aspire 3669).

What an incredible buy!

Ease of Use & Capacity
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

This drive was bought with a view to data migration from 40GB and to give capacity for future MPEG4 CCTV recordings owing to vandal problems. First job was to fit it in a caddy. The caddy disc is unfortunately not Partition Magic et al but just drivers for Win 98SE (not needed for XP SP2) The drive does not actually appear as a drive but appears as "USB mass storage device". 235GB is shown in "properties". Probably enough capacity to hold biometric ID card details for an entire country! Small enough to fit in a pocket, absolutely amazing!

Bought this drive to replace the 120GB Hitachi that I had to replace the original drive in my X31 Thinkpad. This drive is far better. It is significantly faster and 250GB of space on a laptop is invaluable. I have used Western Digitals since I first had a 1.2GB Western Digital Caviar drive back in 1996. Its still going! Western Digital drives are very reliable and will last for years. I currently have a WD 500GB and thats an amazing drive too.

Amazing, after I could get it to work in my Inspiron

Excellent service from ebuyer as always. I had a small issue as my Dell Inspiron is too old to recognise hard drives larger than 137gb. Solution - downloaded Data Lifeguard Tools from the Western Digital website, booted the CD from DOS and partitioned using the tools, then installed XP and, once it had updated to SP2, the full capacity was recognised. Very happy.

Got this for My Dell D600

already done bios update but still showing as 137gb in bios. I have dell cd for xp home and installed with no problems and during setup found full 250. Sorted. I did not need to fool the bios in anyway and never needed no tools to access the full drive.

Works fine in a 15" Powerbook!

I bought this drive to install into my 15" 1.5Ghz Powerbook to give it a little bit more life.

I can confirm that it works perfectly, and is very quiet. I found a install guide on ifixit.com

I also bought this caddy -> http://www.ebuyer.com/product/118506 to put my old powerbook hard drive in. Just so everyone knows, this drive draws a little bit too much power to be powered by Firewire/USB Alone in this enclosure. Needs the power also (cable supplied). Tested with the built in hard drive, and this wonderful WD 250gb jobby.

As always prompt delivery service from ebuyer.

Excellent service and quick delivery as always.

Bought this drive to replace the 40GB drive in my Dell Inspiron 2200.

As with the other review, my Dell Inspiron 2200 Bios would only recognise the hard drives upto 137gb.

Not a problem just ignore it,boot from the Dell XP-Recovery CD which installed XP and then the full capacity was recognised.

The only problem is now theres so much space on C-Drive IT ECHOES !!

Very Good Drive, so get one for your Dell Inspiron NOW .
