Excellent Scanner

Works great and as I had a previous fast scanner thought it would be slow. What a suprise its not the fastest but its not slow. The return of the scanner after a scan seems slow but you can always raise the lid then and put another piece of paper in it you wish!.

No power supply needed, no warm up time, and its smaller and light. Well pleased.

Lide 90 - Good Scanner

Excellent product.

1. Nice small portable scanner.

2. Quicky produces quality outputs.

Note: It's a little noisy.

Slow to Initialise

I've been using the LiDE 90 now for a couple of weeks. Previously I had been using an LiDE 20 so I knew what to expect for the most part.

On the plus side; no power adapter, slim rugged design, ultra portable.

On the flip side; the scanning interface (I'm guessing the driver itself) seriously lags. On a clean installation of WXP connected through USB 2.0 the scanner takes 5 seconds to initialise per page before a scan, compared to a second at most with previous LiDE models.

I do some serious scanning, so speed is of the essence. Actual scanning time is great, but initialisation is the killer. I have tried this in other environments and found results to be similar.

For low to moderate use, this scanner would be perfect. The odd document here and there and you probably wouldn't even notice the lag... but if you're looking at any kind of bulk scanning, proceed with caution!

This is compact and reasonably priced.

I've found this scanner to work pretty well and with good resolution, within the somewhat limited range of jobs for which I've used it.

Use has been limited because I have no idea what most of the bundled software does - all but the skimpiest starter instructions are ON-SCREEN, a tiresome negative in my view.

Rubbish
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

Don't bother its rubbish, slow noisy and scan quality is rubbish. I've seen cheaper scanners with better scan quality
