Good value, but read the manual

This arrived at lunchtime today, and I got it working on Tiscali in about 4 hours. The system recognised it straight away and set up the connection, but I just could not connect to the web using IE7.

I had followed the Quick Installation guide at the end of the pdf file (which is the full manual), and that was partly where I went wrong. I then followed the full manual and found a couple of fields that needed to be enabled. did that, saved it, and had instant connection.

This unit replaced the old Tiscali Sagem USB modem, and there is no comparison. I now have web pages loading almost instantly - I just cannot believe the extra speed.

The manual takes a bit of reading, and you must be careful to have all of your own ISP settings to hand. The Tiscali ones are included in the help file which comes on the Sagem installation CD or can be found under Help at the Tiscali homepage.

Included in the box are all the leads necessary to connect to both USB and 10/100 LAN. Overall a good product for the money. I would have given it 5 stars but have knocked off one for the dodgy manual and slightly complicated setup for Tiscali.

Good Product but how do you save the settings?

I am quite impressed with this as it works really well. The only snag I have is that there doesn't seem to be a way to save the settings if the router is turned off (Power cut/Plug). Does anyone know how to save the settings so this doesn't happen?

Highly reliable router, easy to set up. - worked faster than my old Origo Router.

So many features for so little money, I would recommended this to friends and family

The Manual let it down though so only 4 stars

Great device - check the less obvious settings!

Great ADSL Modem Router, great price and service from ebuyer.

The only downside is the 'Chinglish' manual. I set this up for use on a Spanish ISP, entered all the settings using the quick start function, couldn't get it to work, reread the manual several times, played with the settings, still no joy. Mmm, buried deep in one of the instructions, is 'set the default gateway to enable' (thats my correct translation of the Chinglish), worked straight away after that. Its even able to get an ADSL link when other Modem/routers fail to connect on my far-away-from-the-exchange-dirty-old-telephone-line.

Great and highly reccomended, as are ebuyer.

4 stars and 1 deducted for the Chinglish manual.

Just set one of these up for my Brother. I wouldn't say this is a noob friendly router to set up. If you are not all that knowledgable about adsl settings you are best spending a bit of extra money getting a router that will be easier to set up.

I have still yet to work out how to port forward on the thing but had enough of it today.

As to how to save the settings. If you go to the Admin section you will see an option to commit and reboot. Select that and then click on commit that saves the settings to the routers memory and it should stay there even if you turn it off. Hope that helps.

I am giving it 3 stars because whilst it is cheap and does the job it is a hassle to get going if you don't know what you are doing and the manual is of no use.

I can't fault ebuyer, I am short of cash so got this on 5 day delivery for less than 20 quid, turned up the next day!

I believe I know my way around routers and found this a bit of a nightmare to setup because of odd behaviours, like taking 2+ mins to actually connect to the internet & have noticed it needs to be reset every day or two because it seems to lock up.

For the money, I can't really moan, but by god I wished I had the money for a nice Netgear DG834, and will get one as soon as I can!!

Spend more money

This is a nightmare to set up. Yes it's cheap, but if you value your time spend more money. Manual being in Chinglish doesn't help. Lots of features, but just try and work them out....
