Good little hub but

It doesn't mention anywhere until you actually get it, but you will need a CROSSOVER cable to be able to use in conjunction with another hub/switch on a network.

It would have been useful to mention this in the specs on ebuyer.

Excellent Switch needs a Cat5e Crossover cable

I bought 2 of these to add extra pcs to my home wired network. I had it connected to my Lynksis 4-port wired router with a standard cat5 cable. It didn't work. So i phoned a friend who told me to use a crossover cable. So i ordered one the next day also from ebuyer.

# qfc:

# Belkin Cat5e Moulded UTP Crossover Cable (Pink) 2m.

Yes it comes in pink and other colours and other lengths.

the order code is:

QuickFind Code: 45671 | Mfr part #: A3X126b02M-PNKM

it only costs 2.37 pounds and don't forget to get one.

When my crossover cable arrived it was pink and worked straight away, what a relief.

Excellent Fix Ebuyer

nice little bit of kit, does what is says, why pay more. I used it to gain some extra network points for a online printer at already hardwired ethernet connection.

This is a good little switch for the price, i have my computer hooked up to a server and internet goes though the server and this copes with online games really well. All in all great product and well worth getting.

Lovely bit of kit low power usage and fast

Bought one of these to try and play around with my network.

Basically it does what it says on the tin.. plug your network cable that goes to your router into port number 5 and then everything else into the other ports. Plug in the power. BINGO.. you have your network up and running.

I have One PC, One Nas and One network printer all plugged in and all work perfectly.

This is a 100mbps switch, but I am getting around 10MegaBytes per second transfer speed to my NAS from the PC though the switch. I am led to believe (from what I have read and been told) that the NAS would expect to have around 8MegaByte per second MAX on a 100mbps network. This show that this unit must be running a very fast speed in real world! Well Happy

Power consumption of the plug-in power supply is only 3-4 watts accoring to my plug in meter so quite efficent.

PLEASE NOTE: whilst this is a 5 port switch you can only really have 4 devices connected to it (5 including router). Still 5 ports but one is used by internet router. Also the power lead is only around 1.5 meter long.

Unit has really smallfoot print and looks quite designer in a way. Easy to tuck out of the way. Bargain

this switch gets 5 stars. easy to setup, not big and bulky like similar products, and it works a dream connecting a netgear adsl router and another switch in a different room (with no crossover suprisingly)

and thanks to Ebuyer for swift delivery

xover / patch

The reviewer saying that you can only use a crossover is not correct. This switch uses Auto MDI/MDIX and will auto sense the type of cable so long as your other device connected to it also supports this function.

Hope this helps
