Powers a single 8800GTX flawlessly

I got this PSU as a backup for my faulty 800W OCZ PSU (which is currently in the Netherlands), and I must admit I have no reason to fit the OCZ replacement when it arrives.

If you've got an 8800GTX (which takes 2 PCI-E 6pin power connectors), then this PSU will be all you need! I've also got 2xSATA drives, and 1 IDE DVD device, and it's been running flawlessly.

Great job Corsair.

Well Built solid quiet PSU
review by: Anonymous operating system: Windows XP

Strong single rail, 2 x PCI-e connectors, really quiet, excellent build quality and looks really nice. Comes in a nice little bag inside the box too.

Read reviews very highly rated PSU, can't find a bad word said about this anywhere.

Solid, quiet and reliable

I needed to upgrade the Dell PSU in my new machine to run a decent graphics card, I chose the Corsair because of its reputation and reviews here.

It was a good decision.

The PSU is jet black, all of it and I mean all.

The unit comes supplied with black screws, black sleeved cables and even black cable ties and a case badge.

The cables are long, so you need to tuck them up in standard sized case-but good for a tower case.

There are literally tons of cables, with every concieable combination.

I need 3 SATA cables, it had twice that.

There is a GPU (Graphics) power cable. It is split-able.

The Board PSU is a double plug, which splits apart for a 4 pin connection - this fooled me at first, being jet black, it was hard to see and I thought "Oh no" at first.

But it was fine.

The fan is enormous, 120mm

which means it is silent in use.

It fitted perfectly, quite tight and snug. I had to give it a good hard push, its that snug, unlike most PSUs, which fall out when you release the screws.

I am very please with this PSU and its well worth the cost, which incidently is quite a bit less on e-buyer than other sites.

Brilliant !!!

johny guru (PSU specialist) gave this a 9.5.

it's not modulated, but still a quality piece of kit. lucky i bought it before it went out of stock.

Buy one!

Great PSU for an excellent price. Cables are sheathed, build quality is very good, plenty of connectors, good cable length, it's quiet, etc.

For around 50 delivered, you really can't complain that it's not modular, and it comes with a whole FIVE year warranty! What more do you want?

This PSU has excellent build quality, reliability and performance. its also very quiet I find it very difficult to hear the fan its that quiet.

If you check the reviews you will find that all the corsair ones get top marks.

Plus you get a 5 year warranty which is a added bonus (7 year on the newer HX series)

I recommend any Corsair product.

Stable cheap but can get a little noisy
review by: Anonymous rating:

Bought this a part of cheap upgrade with AthlonX4620, MSI 770_C45, Nvidia8800GTS 512MB, 4gig corsair 666MHz. Runs well with no crashing clocked to 3.3Ghz and run prime95 with FurMark simultaneously for 3hours no problems.

The fan does get noisy when it gets warm and starts to spin faster as in the previous test or running games flat out. Near silent under normal apps though.

This should NOT be an issue if your PSU is at the bottom drawing cool air from the outside, as the fan probably wont spin up fast. Well worth buying and has had good reviews. But look at more expensive options if you must have silent operation at all times.

I wanted the VX450, but how could I resist this !!
review by: Anonymous operating system: Not Applicable

It would have been brilliant if ebuyer was selling the VX450, which is a slightly tweaked and rebadged version of a Seasonic S12 psu according to:

http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTM3NSw5LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

With the VX550, being so reasonably priced (Thanks ebuyer) and being a rebadged item from CWT, another reliable make, according to:
http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=135

I'm sure I will be happy with my purchase. I'll just have to get into some hardcore overclocking!!
