JUST BUY ONE.....!!!
Brilliant bit of kit this is, plays absolutely anything I have thrown at it, even plays files (all kinds) off both my usb connected HDD MP4 player and an external 20Gig 2.5" HDD.
Burnt many hours of home video to DVD already and the quality is spot on - so easy to use, dirt cheap to buy :)
Excellent find eBuyer - every home should have one....or two...! :)
Good value - supports a lot of formats
os:
Windows XPA good product that supports a lot of formats, also provides reasonably high quality output. It has the option of a 6 channel output supporting 5.1 surround, though you will need y splitters for stereo plugs.
Only negative comment is the remote control; it doesn't have a good range and only seems to work when you're directly in front of the unit.
Very hi spec...
os:
Not ApplicableThis is a very hi spec dvd recorder, lots of inputs/outputs the usb is very good if you plug in a card reader (like product 130099)and put a divx film etc in it on an sd card)plays everything i have tried.
the only downside i can find is(like the last reviewer said) the remote but then it is a vistron !! and they seem to have a problem with their remotes for other products too,but that said I am thinking of buying another one of these. would get 5 stars if the remote was better
can i upgrade 2
as i posted the review "very hi spec"in response to "can i upgrade" yes the hard drive model and this one look the same,so if i take mine to bits and look inside to see if there is room for a hard drive, put it back together and it will not work..will he buy me a new one !! just go and buy the hard drive one anyway...
Good for the price
I've had mine for just a few days and overall I'd say I'm pleased with my choice.
For potential buyers here are Some things to be aware of:
1. Although others have mentioned that USB connected HDDs & mp3 players will work my own experience is that it's a case of the device has to be just right in some way but what, exactly, that way is I have yet to figure out. What I mean by that is when I connected my bog standard USB 2.5" HDD (40Gb WD drive in a standard USB 2.0 caddy) to this it wouldn't recognise it at all. Similarly my Archos 105 flash based player wouldn't be recognised. My Maxell 12gb mini HDD USB device works well, though and mp3 playback from this device is spot on. I make that 30% success rate :-(
2. The built in tuner was only able to detect analogue channels when I set it scanning. That's not a major problem for me because I already have a PVR from which I can get a freeview signal feed in to the recorder. Bottom line, though: if you're planning on using this to record freeview channels you'll need to have a separate freeview box, or some other source input connected.
3. The build quality, look and feel of the unit is budget. So don't expect it to be anything else and you won't be disappointed.
4. The remote control really is as fickle as others have already said it is.
Manufacturer warranty?
Hi.. Just like to ask does this come with manufacturers warranty, if so, can you tell me more about this please?
Can I Upgrade
This appears very similar to the vistron with the 250G Hard drive fitted. Does anyone know if you can stick a hard drive in this one. The pictures appear identical for both machines
