Awesome LCD
review by: Wills Chanrating:

os: Windows Vista

Despite the limited reviews available on this LCD, I took the plunge and ordered it yesterday afternoon.

It arrived this morning around noon and having left a key with the neighbour, it was left in my hallway. The box is huge and it took up half my hallway.

Getting it out was easy having laid the box flat and slid the LCD out. It was wrapped in a huge poly bag and fitted with polystyrene buffers to keep it in place. The LCD came with the stand attached so it was lifted onto the stand as soon as it was out of the box. The LCD swivels on its stand. The curve at the bottom of the screen is a solid black plastic unlike the Samsung which is clear. The lcd case feels solid and well made. Not tried to undo the stand so do not know if it can be detached. At the back, there are 4 screw holes so guess this is where the wall mount goes.

Setup was dead easy, connect power, connect scart socket, connect VGA from PC, connect audio plug, power everything up and that was it. Up and running in 10 minutes. I had to up the resolution to 1600x1072.

I watch telly through Sky on scart and my media centre on VGA. Picture quality from Sky is very good. There is no ghosting and colours are very vibrant. When media centre was connected, the screen was very clear with no light seepage or dead pixels. My Nvidia would only support up to 1600x1072 so not able to test full resolution. Pictures through Media Centre are vibrant and come to life. Not tried the built in Freeview yet so will have a go tomorrow.

Remote is not sophisticated and rather bulk. It does need a direct aim at the lcd to get it to work. The menu system is functional and does the job.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it for the price and the prompt delivery service.

1080p - including wall bracket for under 550 quid! Bargain!

I have to say this is an excellent TV, the quality and look of the TV definitely rivals the Samsung as mentioned. It looks stunning, and certainly does not look or feel "cheap". The remote is comparably 'average' but nothing too bad.

I can't think where else you could find a 1080p 42 inch LCD (just to clarify my PS3 does run in 1080p with this) for this kind of money let alone one that is this good with all these features. I purchased mine with a wall mounting Plexus bracket for only an additional 5 pounds with the "special offers" which is also a very good product.

I have noticed ebuyers stock of these LCDs go down from 411 to only 93 tvs in the 5 days since i bought mine which shows how much of a bargain this currently is!

I am certainly pleased with this and would highly recommend to anyone.

BUY ONE! :D

Great Value
review by: Anonymous rating:

I decided to buy a HD TV and fluctuating between buying a fairly top of the range or a less expensive model. My previous TV was an expensive Toshiba that failed approx every 9 months. Therefore I reasoned that it probably wasn't worth spending 2 grand on a TV again as reliability didn't seem to be guaranteed in paying more.

Anyway..I ordered the TV and stand in the special offer combination. The instructions with the stand were incredibly vague ( with the usual amusing Chinese/English translation!:0) )and detailed items that were obviously no longer included. However, with a bit of thought I managed to get it together okay and for the money it's incredibly well designed and made. The only annoyance was that the four bolts included for connecting the TV to the stand were the wrong size!

The TV itself is impressive as soon as you remove the packaging. It certainly doesn't feel or look cheap. The pivot stand is already fitted but was very easily removed and a plastic 'plug' supplied for closing the hole. After finding some bolts I managed to hoist the TV onto the stand. The connections are quite difficult to reach once its on the main stand and I ended up having to undo some screws underneath the bracket and tilt the TV forward to get the mains lead in. Once on the TV found the Freeview channels without problems.

The picture is actually very very good. I turned the colour down slightly for my eye as it appeared too vivid on all settings. DVD's look great and footage from my HD camera was stunning! The TV IS a full 1080p btw for those that keep asking. The sound is good also and I only had to up the bass a little.

The menu takes a little getting used to but is easy enough once you've explored it a bit.

Not much more to say really. Certainly well worth the money. Obviously I can't comment on reliability but atleast I've only spent 600 quid this time and not 2000! One happy customer so far.

Sky Remote Control Code for Vistron Sense
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

The quest for a remote control Code for my Sky Plus handset is still ongoing.

I have emailed Sky who first replied with the instructions on how to programme it. As if I don't know that already.

In the meantime I found this info on how to read what your TV code should be if you dont know it

If there is not a 3 digit code listed for your customers TV receiver then use the four digit method to find a code that works. The following steps will allow this code to be identified.

1. Press the TV button on the Sky remote

2. Hold down Select and the Red buttons together for approximately two seconds, until the Red LED on the Sky remote blinks twice.

3. Key in 990 on the remote.

4. Key in 1 on the numeric keypad and count the number of times the Red LED blinks. The number of blinks will indicate the first digit of the code

5. Input 2 on the numeric keypad and count the blinks to identify the second digit of the code.

6. Input 3 on the numeric keypad and count the blinks to identify the third digit of the code.

7. Write it down and keep it safely.

I read my Sense 42 LCD television code to be 0699 using this method but that still doesn't work. if anyone has a successful code or gets a different reading than mine, could you post it up. Cheers

This Sense 42" 1080p TV is Excellent!!!

I received the TV last week and I'm really happy with it. I have the V+ box (1080i) and DVD/HDD Recorder (1080p) both linked up to it via HDMI. The picture quality is great. The sound is OK but I'm using a surrround processor instead. It has an LG Panel fitted too. No dead/stuck pixels.

The only warning I would give is that scart socket 2 is a bit close to the RF aerial input (for Freeview) for my liking and with both connected up, things are a bit tight, but still possible.

A bargain, so 5 stars.

Full HDTV 1080p

This outputs 1080p from both my Mac and PC via HDMI (Inputs 1 and 2) VGA is 720.

The picture quality is very good indeed... Put it this way, if you grumble at this price you've a serious perspective problem.

My only reservation is that it lacks audio out but as I use a Mac with EyeTV for 4 simultaneous Freeview channels all my TV and gaming audio is output from the Mac and PC via a separate amplifier. The Wintel PC is only used for gaming at max 1920x1080 resolution via nVidia 8800GTX GPU. When gaming there is occasional slight tearing in really hectic moments (as one would expect from such a large monitor) but nothing seriously distracting.

Also, the Mac/EyeTV Freeview tuners and software give a better picture than the Sense built-in tuner (I've never found a PC Freeview tuner that comes close to the Mac/EyeTV combo in terms of quality and I've bought and returned several highly rated PC Freeview tuners). DVD picture quality from both the Mac or PC is excellent.
