Very impressed!
operating system:
Windows VistaFor the price im super impressed with this.
For a start, its very quiet. My system is fairly high drain too so its not like it hasnt had a good workout (overclcoked CPU, 3 drives including 1 raptor, 2DVD-ROMs, X1950 gfx)
I was going to use it as a stop gap until i bought a more expensive one, but I cant see the point, provided the system stays stable / the PSU doesnt explode.
Theres no brand name on this, but the ratings on the side sticker are as follows:
+5V = 35A
+3.3V = 28A
+12V = 18A
-12V = 0.5A
+5VSB = 2A
With 18 Amps on the 12V rail, dont go putting this in an SLI setup or anything, but for an average to mid system, this seems good, for now...
Wow!
operating system:
Windows XPWell, what can I say? An excellent PSU for just short of 16 quid!
It's very silent in operation, and I mean very, you can only hear it if you stick your ear right up next to it.
Nothing bad to say about this PSU really, I mean, if you have a high end system of course you're not going to buy it; but I'm a gamer on a limited budget. and the single PCI-E power connecter is enough to handle mid-range cards, infact most mid range cards don't even need the power connecter!
Overall, 5 stars and recomended to anyone with a basic to mid-range system :)
Extra Value 400W 12cm Silent Fan PSU - 20+4pin, 1x PCI-E, 2x SATA
good p.s.u , lots of the right fittings , nice and tidy , the cables, for me were a good length , well pleased
Great value
operating system:
Windows XPReplaced a broken 305w Dell PSU (from a 5150 Dimension, had an apparently common flashing amber light problem).
Easy installation even for a first timer like me. Loads of connectors, plenty of extra ones for expansion.
Was a slight strain to get the SATA connectors in place (PSU at top back, HDD and front bottom of case) but worked fine with no alterations needed.
This fixed up the problem a charm and it is far quieter than my previous PSU.
Good value for money
operating system:
OtherVery quiet PSU, I had no problems with SATA connectors, good value for under 25 pounds.
Hmmm, ok for the money...
operating system:
Not ApplicableThis was supposed to replace a knackered 350W PSU - it certainly looks the part, jet black, big fan and lots of connectors.
The SATA connectors are real flimsy and both of mine snapped. Having used a molex > sata connector everything seems fine. Not silent but not really noisy either.
Marking a 3 because of the sata connectors - if it had cost more I'd be returning and saying avoid like the plague...
Not that impressed
operating system:
Windows VistaI'm not that impressed with this PSU. After reading the previous 2 reviews, I thought this PSU would be near silent but it's not. It creates a quiet dull hum which is definitley not silent but it isn't loud. It's very good value for the money but definitely not silent (or near silent). I bought 2 of these and they are both the same so it's not a faulty one that I've got. 3 stars mainly for value for money, lost 2 stars as it is NOT silent but marketed as such.
Beware of SATA connectors
operating system:
Not ApplicableVery quite PSU, but the slightest pressure on the SATA plugs (e.g. installing it) will cause them to break. Quick fix with tape before you try will stop this. Pity really as other than that it's a great bit of kit.
you pay for what you get
operating system:
Windows Vistabought as a quiet psu to replace an aging antec 300w in the living room pc. started off pretty quiet but its getting gradually louder and whilst not offensive its not quiet enough for our living room.
at the end of the day, its cheap and its averagely quiet but does not live up to the silent moniker and i will be ordering a better one soon i suspect. should have known better!
