Great little processor

This makes a massive difference to the horrendous 1.8ghz Sempron my brother was using; the speed increase on games is amazing, and he now has Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit running, and very smoothly too.

Despite other feedback comments, this IS a dual core processor, and performs very well for the price. Installation was a breeze too.

Re comment Not bad but outmuscled by Intel?
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

This is a great CPU, runs cool and if you use an after market cooler, even cooler and very quietly too.

I cannot agree with the comment made on 01/03/2008 that its 'Not bad but outmuscled by Intel'

Yes it is, if you want to spend more money! This CPU has a Real World Benchmark score of 1.04, the closest comparable Intel CPU with 'more muscle' is the E4500 which benches at 1.08. A very small increase in performance, but an E4500 costs around 75.00! Other Intel CPUs with 1.00 benchmarks and lower, still cost more than this AMD.

To get a better priced Intel dual core you need to go down to an E2200 which this will trounce all over.

This is a fantastic processor for the money and paired with a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H (code: 142347) you have a top performing combination for just over 100.00, that cannot be beaten by an Intel combination for the same money.

Highly recommended, especially with the GA board, which has onboard Radeon HD3200 graphics and HDMI. So if you dont want to run the latest games, this will give you everything you need and more!

Cheap powerfull dual core
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

I bought one of these to put in my 2nd pc, a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo P2411 (ebuyer quick find 145774)

And for just under 180 quid, i have a dual core pc that doesn't heat my room up intel stylee.

Its a quick system & does media encoding really well, its coped with everything ive thrown at it

The AMD cool n quiet system is effective & cleverly reduces cpu speed & power consumption when the cores are idle..

Yes its not a core2duo, and may not overclock like a core2duo, but hey, who gives a toss? not everone wants to thrash there cpu's!

Also, there's the cost..42 quid for a dual 2.6Ghz cpu that comes with 3yr warranty... not rocket science is it?

BUY ONE :o)

Clocked this cpu to 3.0ghz using the arctic freezer 64 cooler and still has room to go further. Clocked with no problems whatsoever.

fully recommended.

No need to compare to intel but you can get great results with this cpu if overclocked.

Cool and Quiet

This CPU with a zytek copper sink and Coolermaster CPU controlled fan is great. It is in a Coolermaster case and power supply currently on special offer from Ebuyer.

The Gigabyte GA-M68SM-S2L GeForce 7025 Socket AM2 mATX Motherboard allows the X2 to control both the CPU and system fans. It is really quiet and fast.

No trouble using Ubuntu 8.04 AMD 64 operating system. Seems to team really well with the OCZ platinum memory also currently on offer from Ebuyer.

Really good value.

Processor is dead quiet and i can hardly hear the fan. Seems to be great at keeping up in terms of speed and beats some intel dual cores i dealt with in the past. In all 5 stars GREAT STUFF!!! A must buy!

AMD have certainly improved the energy efficiency of their processors recently, over the earlier power-hungry Athlon 2000 and so on.

This offers near-leading-edge 64x2 performance, but with a temperature rise that you can barely feel at the heatsink.

No problems with this CPU. Performs very well, dead easy to install with the supplied fan. Hits around 40-45c. Haven't tried overclocking it yet, but in Vista it hits 5.2 for the CPU benchmark.
