I'd looked around for a replacement laptop for my wife's old Dell and accidentally came across this Acer Aspire 5315. I was amazed at the specification for the price and ordered it immediately. Free delivery took around 6 working days all in, but it was worth the wee wait. The Aspire fired up right away, picked up my wireless gateway immediately, and within half an hour she was surfing the NET once she'd had a little play around with the onboard software - we've activated the 90 day free trial of Norton Internet security that comes with the laptop and will probably stick with it when it comes to registration time - don't know if I can say the same for the MS Office trial as Word 2007 is so different from the version we've both used up to now that it'll take a bit of practice to get used to it. The 15.4" screen looks huge and is exactly as it's name suggests - CrystalBrite. Keyboard use is like a normal desktop keyboard as opposed to the usual laptop keyboard so as an office administrator, she finds it far superior to the old Dell one. All in all, we think that it's a bargain, but could probably do with a memory upgrade to 2Gb Ram if you're a serious user. Also the weight and overall size of the unit lends itself to office or home use where high mobility is probably not the first concern - great laptop though. And, last thing, it's not obvious in the spec sheet but it has a built in webcam!!!

p.s. Acer have installed their own PC management suite which is easy to use when required instead of having to manage the laptop's configuration through Windows directly - stick with it 'cos it'll save you a wee bit of messing about in Vista's control panel.
