Lots of Bang for the Buck

Not ApplicableHere's my initial impressions of the Vistron 47 after a few days playing with it.
My wife set it up - she's no techno-phobe but she's also not interested in how things are connected just so long as they work. So, in that respect the TV is dead easy to set up and she was watching Dr Phil in no time.
I used a Plexus tilt mount to put it on the wall. The TV itself does not come with any screws for mounting, just threads in the back of the TV, but the mounting bracket came with a selection of screws to choose from so this was not an issue for me.
I recommend plugging in the required cables to the TV before mounting as they are a little hard to get to once up on the wall. But, with the side of my head resting against the wall and looking up I can see all the sockets and get one hand up behind the TV to plug in the necessary cables.
With a standard Virgin Media V box connected via scart cable and viewing only about 6 feet away artefacts on the SD signal are pretty obvious, although this varies greatly depending on the broadcast source (e.g. BBC News (v.good) vs American NTSC (crap!) ). Colour saturation needs to be backed off to about 50%
DivX movies streamed from theXbox Media Centre (XBMC) via composite cables look very good indeed.
Sound is not bad for a TV, plenty of volume, but bass does tend to distort a little when pushed and midrange is a little lacking. I'd recommend using a surround system.
There are no dead/bright pixels that I can see. Images are bright with plenty of contrast and saturation. Picture is clear even during the day with plenty of ambient light.
There is a patch of light-bleed on the upper left edge, that I only noticed it because the TV was set to 4:3 mode leaving black bars either side of the picture. I suppose I might notice it during a dark scene in 16:9 mode, but only if I'm looking for it.
Plenty of connection options. I haven't tried the VGA socket yet
Nothing about the TV has given me cause for concern regarding build quality. It's put together well with no sharp edges in the plastic or uneven gaps. It doesn't flex or creak when moved.
The remote won't win any design awards but it's functional. I've got a Logitech Harmony One universal remote to replace 5 other remotes so it's not an issue anyway.
Conclusion :- It may not be a 'brand' name, and some 42"s are coming close in price, but if you're after something bigger that is full 1080p HD then the Vistron 47" is definitely worth a try. With the money I saved buying this TV I can now justify getting a PS3 or Xbox360!.
RECOMMENDED!
Hi-Def is excellent - VGA to 1920x1080 !!

Not ApplicableI can't fault this TV!
My PC at 1920x1080 is excellent and does not appear blurry at all. Text is clear and easily readable from 7-8 feet away.
1360x768 is easier for my old eyes though and it still looks fantastic.
My Xbox XBMC via component at 720i looks great too. The Xbox has 1080i but the 733MHz processor can't cope with playing movies at that res. Menus and photographs look amazing at 1080i.
The BBC HD Preview channel looks stunning - crystal clear and full of colour.
Basically, I'm a happy camper, and the 300+ I saved by buying the Vistron has bought me some extra goodlies that make the whole HDTV experience even better.
This TV is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for the money!
Now, excuse me whilst I get a beer and find my Blade Runner Directors Cut DVD...
Wicked TV Well Worth The Cash!

Not ApplicableI was lucky enough to have spare bit of cash and wanted to upgrade our existing 720p Teco 32" which I thought was a OK TV for the price that I paid but....
This TV is 200x better in every way. The screen is an awesome size and TV is great to watch on it even 3-5 meters away its a pleasure to watch.
Then you switch the Xbox to 1080p from 1080i... and wow GTA4 just come alive and call of duty 4 is amazing.
Build quality is good and the remote allow plain and un-flash does work really well unlike the Teco we had before.
This TV is well worth getting especially for Xbox / PS3 and HD/Blueray Movies.
I have a Virgin box so can't comment on the TV functions but the menu systems as a whole function well.
Buy one you wont be sorry..
PC
Does the TV have a phase adjust on it? When connecting my PC to my HD ready projector in high resolutions the pixels were blurred and I had to play with the phase settings to correct it, but I do know alot of these problems are down to the graphics card on the pc. Also the refresh rate can make alot of difference.
Vistron 47" hd tv
Any one actually used it to watch tv progammes on, if so whats your opinion?
Great Buy

Windows VistaAfter weeks of waiting for someone to post a propper review on the quality of picture when connected to a PC,I decided to just buy one and see myself.I have set up cable tv (virgin media) My PC and an Xbox 360. The quality of TV is as expected , I dont have the HD channels (YET) but there is no difference in quality to my previous TV, 32" Acer (720p).
My Pc looks stunning at max resolution on this 1920x1080, even sharper display than my old tv in this respect.
HD movies (1080p) are crystal clear (using a Nvidia 8800gts 640mb card with E6600 cpu overclocked to 3.2GHz ) Note: I am using a DVI-HDMI pure AV cable. The xbox also looks great set to 1080p output via YPBPR cable, tested 1080p video, not as sharp as the PC but that was to be expected due to the lack of processing power on the console, But still, it does look incredible ingame, certainly an improvement from 1080i.
I would definately reccommend this TV to anyone looking for a cheap 1080p TV or even an expensive one! compared to my friends Phillips 47" 1080p tv(which cost double what I paid for this!!!), this is of as equal build quality and picture quality in my opinion.
Absolute steal at this price!
Vistron 47"
When I first got it i couldnt believe how easy it was to set up then i connected it to my xbox 360 and set to 1920x1080 the graphics were better and it was much clearer than 720p it was a great purchase better than my Sony Bravia 42" amazing value for your money.
Pretty good screen

Not ApplicableI've had this TV for about 2 months now, I bought it with :-
Vistron 3-Tier Glass TV Stand For 42" to 60" screens Clear Glass and Chrome Finish
QF code - 95749
Setting it up was easy, needed help to get it up on the stand, the tv and stand together looks amazing. This TV is huge looking in my medium sized living room, the TV and stand together looks very impressive.
Setting up was easy, plugged in my old SKY digibox via SCART, XBOX 1 via S-VIDEO (dont have a TV arial due to dead spot so cant test DTV or analouge TV with it).
Picture quality over SKY is ok, some channels are fine, some are a bit pixelated, the sheer size of the screen really shows the flaws on some channels, also the TV needs some tweaking to get the best out of the display, I've yet to do that properly but things can be improved alot with some reading up and working out some better settings than default.
Overall on SKY I'm happy with it but wanting to upgrade to SKY HD to make the best out of the picture.
As for XBOX 1 over S-VIDEO .. I use it as my media centre (XBMC) and for DVD ... picture is great for games, movies (XBMC) and DVD, little soft but impressive with the overall handling by the TV.
I have since bought a PS3 which I've connected over HDMI ... WOW that really shows what the TV can do, the picture using 1080p and 720p is sharp, solid and looks amazing, colours are very nice (blacks are not true black but still nice) but it shows off what it can do given a good feed into the TV, I'm more than impressed. I've not got any Blu-Ray films yet to try with the PS3 but have played some demo stuff through the PS3 which are 1080P and the pic quality is sharp and impressive.
Sound quality for the TV is stereo but must be some processing going on as it sounds like a virtual 3D mix, I'm very happy with it (I have a cinema surround for films and TV but happy to let the TV audio do its thing when not watching a film or playing a game with PS3).
The menus are pretty good, lots of options, same as my neighbours LG 42" TV, seems to be the same kinda system but maybe slightly different firmware for it.
The remote control does the job, you can access all you need with that, nothing outstanding.
My conclusion is, its well worth the money but needs some display adjustments to get more out of it, I will be giving it 5 stars as for the price you cant go wrong, its massive, looks fantastic on its own, with a HD source input it really shows what it can do. Maybe look around at other options if you have more money but for the package what this offers I would recommend.
home theatre system???
Hi There - Superb TV, well happy with everything cept 1 small query. I have my surround sound connected via hdmi which gives a fantastic sound when paying dvd. Has anyone managed to set this tv up with a surround system so that the tv can play through it?? If so which cables and connecters have you used cos I can't for the life of me find an audio out - seriously headachy :s
PC not displaying 1920x1080
The picture on this item is really sharp when watching standard TV, I can't comment on HDTV 1080p yet, as I don't have a bluray disk, or Sky-HD.
However, I expected to be able to plug my PC into the back of the TV (using the PC in socket) and be able to set the resolution to 1920x1080. When it displays, the pixels are blurred, even after running 'auto adjust'. I wanted to use the TV for doing software demos, and have to set the resolution lower to get a sharp picture. Surely if my graphics card is sending 1920x1080 and the TV's resolution is the same, the image should be at the sharpest.
I'm just using a standard VGA cable, and I've got an HDMI->DVI cable on order, so I'm hoping that sorts it. Any ideas anyone ?
