Sumivision Phoenix Install

Got my new player and it's great, all as it should be. Don't do what I did out the box HDMI lead and mains in then switch on and WOO, no signal to TV.

sound ok on phono but HDMI off line. Problem is you have to set the thing up SCART first as that's the default, go to set up and change parameters to HI Def. Then all is well to go to HDMI. Lot's must think there is something wrong but there is not!!.

MEASUREMENTS NOT AS STATED
review by: MICK H operating system: Not Applicable

I BOUGHT THIS TO FIT INTO MY HIFI STACK AT 340mm,WHEN I RECEIVED THE PHOENIX I FOUND THAT THE CORRECT SIZE WAS AS FOLLOWS- W 225mm. D 260mm. H 43mm. THE PLAYER ITSELF IS GREAT AND WORTH 5 STARS,THE MEASURING LEAVES A LOT TO BE DESIRED.

Value for Money!

Not the best looking piece of kit and I do have niggles with how cheap it can feel, but if you're looking for value for money, I can't fault this at all.

Plays multi-region from the box, movies in XVID/DIVX off your USB stick (just press your GOTO button) and generally handles everything you can throw at it. Plenty of connectivity too.

I bought mine as it was a cheaper way of watching movies from my PC than a 10m high quality cable. I'm glad I did.

FAQs.. kinda

I've had one of these for a few months now and I'm about to purchase another before they disappear off the radar.

To answer some of your queries;

- YES it plays XVID and DIVX movies straight off the USB stick - start the player with the stick plugged in and with no disc and use the GOTO button to select USB.

** However, if you're downloading/recoding movies, you must ensure the movie uses the correct codec else it's not going to work, or will take hours attempting to process the file. I use Total Video Converter to re-encode the movies if I have this problem.

- YES it plays multiregion straight out of the box and with no setting up necessary.

- Using SD cards is the same as using USB sticks (press GOTO).

Great product, ebuyer. For this price, you really can't go wrong.

USB Drive

Excellent piece of kit, is smaller than I expected - about 8 inches wide and 10 inches deep (estimated sizes).

Reads DivX file fine from a 16GB Kingston USB drive.

Very easy to set up, would definitely recommend. Read other reviews to set up HDMI - you'll need to connect using a scart lead to enable the HD for HDMI.

Just got my DVD player and watched a movie through the USB, no more need to burn DVDs and excellent quality. Only a couple of issues is that one of my MP3 players does not register and therefore I am unable to get the menu up to view files? On my 4GB stick the songs do not get picked up after around 2GB....any ideas.

I can confirm that this plays US disks but have been unable to play movies direct from the USB. Does anyone have any hints on this?
