Zalman VF1000 LED

No problems fitting the cooler or installing it back into my system. (It does take up two slots so you might want to consider that before getting one. Also check that the card you want to fit this cooler to is compatible!) The RAM heatsinks are a nice little touch too. I left out the external fan controller box/button and plugged the cooler fan straight into my motherboard (Asus P5KC) and let the onboard temperature controllers take charge as it's a standard 3 pin case-fan type plug. Gfx card now operates at 10-15 degrees celsuis lower than before running the same applications. I can now put all my games gfx settings to maximum without the Asus EN8600GT overheating.

I really can't praise this cooler highly enough!

Another excellent product from Zalman. This was easy to install as usual from them. The heatsink is quite large but has made over a 15-18c drop on my 8600GT gfx card so there is no complaint here. This will fit most gfx cards on the market (bonus).

Recommend if you want to OC or to reduce temps.

the extra purchase makes it about 5 quid cheaper

this review claims that with this new paste (not the supplied one) you can get almost 39 degrees lower

Quiet and Cool

I own a Windows XP system with 1GB RAM and an AMD 3800+ processor.

The installation of this unit took approx 45mins, but this was only my second fan installation and I wanted to take my time and make sure I got it right!

The instructions are clear and the unit, although tricky to install works just as expected, if not better!

The cooling effect is just what my 256MB ATI graphics card needed, which was often getting far too hot with the games I like to play.

Key points;

- Far better than stock fan.

- Cools my graphics card down by at least 10 degrees.

- Installation instructions are easy to follow, but it is tricky so care should be taken (at one point you have to hold the fan in one hand whilst trying not to let the thermal paste separate from the GPU).

- Good value for money

- LED is a nice touch, as well as the overall look. Useless in my system as my case is not see through.

- Fan controller works fine and even when on maximum is virtually inaudible.

- Sturdy and well crafted design, but it does mean your graphics card + fan will occupy two PCI slots.

Great Cooler, A must buy

I have just installed this on a powercolor radeon 4850. This card with the reference cooler under load was hitting 88 degrees sometimes slightly higher under load as these cards are known for running hot. After installation of the this cooler my card runs under load at 47 degrees, It has nearly cooled my card by half.

Extremely easy to fit, Like the previous review i have not used the fan mate controller and plugged direct into one of the motherboard fan sockets.

A litte FYI for those wanting to install on 4850 only use the 4 ram heatsinks on the ram around the main chip. This will leave a few chips at the end of the card exposed tho. Cant rate this enough.

this product fits on my 4850 perfectly! all you need is another set of RAM heatsink, even though it's not that necessary. but I will still buy a RAM heatsink to cover the voltage regulator and the other stuff there.

Take your time installing it and press down the RAM heatsink because it might fall off.

so I notice my 4850 was like 90+c when i first bought it but now

idle at 36c

load at 40-50 depending on game normally 45

I said OMG this is great! also when I play it gets hot up to 45c then when I stop just wait for 4 seconds and it goes back to 36.

you SHOULD buy this!

I dont remember how many items I've bought from Ebuyer.. probably gazillions.... :P never been let down..

and as always... Ebuyer Packaging and Delivery is Crystal

WOOT WOOT!

Quick to install, even for my first time doing anything to a PC's hardware. Installed well on my RADEON 4850, and was packaged well. Overall its a brilliant buy, and for a hot card like the 4850 an essential.

30 Degrees Drop!!!
review by: Anonymous rating:

Just installed this on my 4850 and my idle temps went from 50-55 to 30-35. My load temps went from 97 to mid 60s which is a huge drop of 30 degrees. Taking into consideration my 4850 is overclocked to 680/1100.

The Voltage regulators do not have any heatsinks but this is not a problem because even at full load they are cold enough to touch.

Very easy to install if you use the 3870 instructions for installing the rather crudely named "nipples" as they are the same layout.(Only applies to 4850/4870)

The fan comes with its own speed controller which is a nice touch. It is very quiet and i have the fan set to somewhere in the middle. It is a little noisy when set at full but barley audible at the lowest setting.

Highly recommended!!! 5 Stars.
