This is the Spinpoint F1 HD753LJ !!!!

This is the Spinpoint F1 HD753LJ !!!!

It uses PMR to store the data with much more density. This results in a brilliant sustained transfer rate & it also runs cool & quiet due to just 3 platters - buy one now!

Quiet, cool and fast-noise is low frequency.

Took over 3 hrs to format.

I used data lifeguard tools (wdc.com)to transfer data from old WD drive to this one.

Comes in plastic shield with some HD screws.

Works fine on SATA 150-awaiting new build before moving again and using SATA 300.

It appears as quick as raptor 150AD but no where near the noise!

SATA Issues
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

If like me you have any trouble with your onboard SATA not being compatible I can confirm that quickfind code: 48670 PCI SATA controller works, and works well with this drive. (I think my motherboard is about 5 years old, and to be honest I didnt expect the onboard controller to work).

I think the SATA PCI controller is a SATA I rather than II, but at least you will have a working drive and at just 11 pounds, its a bargain. Disk performance was very good too.

Firstly I downloaded and installed Data Lifeguard Tools from WDC.com on my old Hard Drive; then shutdown the PC, installed the new Samsung drive alongside the old boot drive and powered up again. After boot up (with the old drive), I fired up Data Lifeguard and selected "Set Up your Hard Drive". After accepting a warning about the new drive not being Western Digital the software went about its task of setting up the new Samsung drive. First I set up a few options to create a new first partition of 150 Gb (this would be my new Windows boot drive) then a second partition for the remaining 550 Gb or so of space. The software then took about 2 hrs to set up my drive, including copying over all my old C drive files. At the end of this it shut down the PC. I rebooted and could now see the new drive (and old Drive) in "my computer". The new drive had 2 partitions, the first a copy of my C drive and the second was 550 Gb of free space. I then shut down the PC, removed the old drive and restarted the PC again. thats all there was to it.

Now I have a new C drive (copy of my old one) and a new massive D drive.

Fantastic quiet and fast drive at a great price; and fantastic software from WDC.com

The most valuable 750GB hard drive with a 32MB cache in the market
review by: Xiao Bin Liu os: Windows XP

This Samsung hard drive caught my attention by its very good price corresponding to its 750GB and 32MB cache. I went to a lot of online stores. I couldn't find anything match up the spec. like this hard drive with this price. I don't know how fast the "32MB cache" helps. Nevertheless, it's a good hard drive with a good price.

I bought this drive to back up my sata1 drive. using it in the antec mx-1 enclosure at first I had problems transferring data, but after using Samsungs disk utility program which amongst other things forces sata 1 speeds I had no further problems . The drive is very fast and the price is excellent, I highly recommend it.

People have been complaining about the lack of a sata 1 jumper but you don't need one just use this link
