An excellent board

os: Windows XP

I've been running a new system with this board for a week or so, it's been 100% stable, very fast and I'm delighted with it. It was simple to install, well laid out and the documentation was good. I was able to follow the manual to set up RAID 0 on twin SATA drives with no difficulties at all, and I was able to run my OSZ RAM at 2.1v. The supplied CD installed all the necessary drivers automatically once I'd installed XP.

This is one of very few full-size ATX boards for AMD with integrated graphics, and this one has AMD's excellent 690G chipset with ATI Radeon 1250 graphics, more than adequate as long as you are not into gaming. It has both VGA and HDMI outputs and comes with an HDMI to DVI convertor, so there are plenty of options and you can easily run two monitors.

There are plenty of expansion slots including PCI-e X1, X4 and X16. My only disappointment is that there are only 4 rear USB ports - mine are already used up with mouse, keyboard, printer and external drive, so I may have to spend more money on a card or hub.

This board is supposed to be good for overclocking, but I haven't tried it yet.

Good board

This a good board if your not into gaming, of course you can always install a add on card for that.

The only downside to this board is the tiny heatsink installed for the north bridge. It runs a little too warm, over 50'c, Ideally it should run under 40'c.

My recommendation, replace the north and south bridge with the Zalman chipset cooler.
