yes it will run that sound card and yes it does run a phenom processor that is what i have...
A DAMN FINE MOTHERBOARD !
os:
Windows VistaInstalled it a week ago and have been pleased with the performance and build. Using it with the Phenom 9950.
Make sure that you disable 'CPU TWEAK' in the BIOS as this is basically the TLB fix. (unless you need it of course).
No overheating probs like one customer was saying. But if you are wanting to use hibernation and are a Vista user, it will not work.(yet)
The layout is great and the board is a real looker if you have a window on your case.
Great stuff, but not the best board for a noob as the BIOS is very comprehensive.
Great board
os:
Windows VistaI'm running this board with an AMD 6000+ processor and a radeon 4850. The layout is good, the IDE and the sata ports are angled which keeps cables out of the way, although they are fiddly to use initially.
This board does run quite hot with the AMD processor I'm using but the antec case is more than capable of controlling the temperature.
Be warned, I had a lot of trouble until I READ THE MANUAL! I was using buffered RAM which is no good on this board. Read the QVL. I tried two corsair 2gig sticks on the advice of ebuyers tech boys and this has solved my problems.
This board is fast, reliable and best of all, you can have 4 graphics cards on crossfire!
If you're a gamer, buy this board with the antec case and an additional side fan.
Number of Cores
Yes this bad boy runs single / dual OR quad core CPU's the spec's are fantastic apart from only 1x IDE / ATA channel like most others :(
Disappointing
os:
Windows VistaPurchased this with 2gb Corsair 1066 ram, 9850 Phenom and an 8800GTS OC. Had numerous problems with the memory that ASUS were very poor about sorting out. Before purchasing any 1066 DDR2 ram check the QVL before buying! Currently in the process of returning mine and getting the M3N-HT. There are a lot of bad reviews for this motherboard on the ASUS website too. However I believe I was unlucky with my choice of ram.
poor board
os:
Windows XPive had this board with a 6400 athlonx2 for some time now
the board overheats badly aswell as the processor
im going to have to return it and no longer will i buy asus motherboards
i am a system builder who builds 500 systems a year and mine as it should be should be the best but quite honestly im fed up with this board 3 months of absoloute pain in the a** trouble
also dont bother with the 6400 it overheats really badly
wot processors does it run
it says in the overview of the product that it will run single & duel core processors but in the specs it says dual core & quad
wot im getting at will it run a phenom 9600
pci express
will a pci express x1 component like http://www.ebuyer.com/product/129740 work on this motherboard in one of the bigger pci express slots

Hi All,
The bees knees this is - AMD recommends it for their latest Quad Processors:
