great wee board
review by: Philip Hilditch rating:
customer rating
operating system: Windows Vista

Great board easy to install ... only had one problem.... whixh was finding the correct 4 pin power connector, I have 2 with my psu and I chose the wrong one... obviously it wasn't giving enough power, I think one is 5v and the other 12v, turned it on and nothing happened initially. I spent a whole weekend scratching my head and reseating everything before my brother suggested looking for another 4 pin connector out of the Power Supply!! ;-)

a handy hint if it doesn't power up 1st time.

Great board, Stable & Full SLI X16
review by: lewis haynes rating:
customer rating
operating system: Windows Vista

My Spec for those wanting to know is:

P5N-D Motherboard

W.D. WD2500AAKS 250gb hdd

Corsair 2GB Kit PC2-6400 XMS2 Ram

Intel E8200 2.66 Processor

BFG 8800GT 512 Graphics Card

Antec Sonata III Case + PSU

Vista 64Bit OEM

Been running the board for 2 weeks now and solid as a rock not crashed once even when gaming and yes that includes Crysis on high settings with AA turned off or to 2 if i feel brave, everything else runs perfectly.

The board has a very good manual (this was my first full build) with pictures and clear text.

There are only 2 negatives, the first is the fact that the first board i had was faulty but ebuyer replaced very next day no problem (quality service as usual) and secondly the board gets fairly hot (im running standard intel cooler at 46 - 49c stock) I have used the additional northbridge fan as well as adding an extra case fan - never crashed on me so must be doing the job!

In conclusion a great board that is stable and has scope for FULL X16 SLI tho i would check card sizes first on anything bigger than a 8800GT 512mb.

Extreme Overclocking!
review by: Ryan Kelly rating:
customer rating
operating system: Windows Vista

Been using this board for a month now and it's excellent value for money.

Setup:

Pentium D E2220 2.4Ghz @ 3.2Ghz

OCZ Reaper HPC 2GB DDR6400

MSI 8800GT 512Mb OC

OCZ GameXtreme 600W

Asus Silent Knight CPU HSF

Antec Lanboy Case

Overclocked with ease after upping some voltages.

Now Running At:

3.21Ghz 58C 2.4Ghz Stock (1.43v)

Ram at 855Mhz 4-4-4-15 (2.2v)

With 0402 Bios for P5N-D

Only limited by CPU temp ATM

11000 on 3DMark06 (Vista)

4200 on 3DMark Vantage

Power saving is also excellent but only the AI nap feature works while overclocking I think, no worries though.

P.S:

If planning to use XP I must point out the Nvidia chipset drivers, Asus download Site, are at time of writing totally horrible (Nvidia's fault).

After a day my PC refused to boot XP, even in safe mode, because of the Nvidia SATA controller driver. Apperantely installing in safe mode fixes this but I cannot confirm. I could not get into windows so I decided to move to Vista which works flawlessly now.

Overall it's packed full of features and for the price value for money is superb!

Nice board
review by: Daniel Turner rating:

operating system: Windows XP

As always with ASUS you get what you pay for!

This is a nice board which does everything I would expect it to do.

My only gripe was the position of the processor is quiet near the edge and if your using an aftermarket heatsink and a case with a bottom mounted PSU it can be awkward! I would advise mounting the CPU and heatsink before installing in this case.

The first board I recieved was faulty, would not post of recognise processor (E8400) and couldnt deal with dual channel ram. Shortly after this the PCI-E failed also.

However the replacment board is fine.

This was the first time I had to return anything to ebuyer after years of using them, and the service was EXCELLENT, I have seen some parts I needed for my current build slightly cheaper elsewhere but I will continue to use ebuyer knowing how brilliant the service is if I have any problems.

Excellent Mobo
review by: Zobair rating:

operating system: Windows Vista

This board goes very well with the q6600, i initially had difficulty overclocking to 3.0ghz, but after i changed northbridge and ht voltages from auto to 1.36, and i changed vcore voltage to 1.36 and it worked. i left everything else on auto, and changed memory options to unlinked, and the the cpu fsb to 1333.

Also, if you're hoping to run sli you might have trouble fitting in two large sized gfx cards since the pci-e slots are so close together. And the second gfx card might go over the SATA slots.
