Great for students :-)

Not ApplicableI'm on summer break from uni and have been searching for a PC that I can do all my coursework on that won't cost a fortune but without getting something rubbish. Got this one and dead pleased with it. Cheers!
Really great basic home PC
os:
Windows VistaThe system comes with keyboard and mouse only, which I didn't need but was nice anyway.
Initial startup was bad, McAfee is preloaded so this was updating at the same time as windows update and some Acer system tools; the poor old Celeron was simply maxed out and the system unusable (if I had been patient, I'm sure it would have come back after some time).
I booted to safe mode and removed McAfee and disabled the Acer system services (I do not need these thank you :)). After a reboot, the system went about updating windows (time consuming in itself) and once this was complete I could start using the system.
The on board GFX is exceptional, running in 1280x1024 - a visit to the QuickTime trailer site allowed me to view the latest Harry Potter trailer in HD (780p); playback was smooth, no juddering.
It comes with 512mb memory, this has not hampered it (even running Vista) although I will upgrade this at some point. Overall, very responsive and almost silent.
I would recommend this to anyone wanting a basic home PC to start out with or anyone wanting a no-frills home workstation.
Excellent!
Its good for the price You get
Hi this pc is not bad for what you pay this pc comes with 512MB and its running on vista home basic and its OMG slow slow slow you need to upgrade it for at least 1GB of ram to see some difrent!
future upgrade
My brother bought one of these systems and I am impressed. However, if in the future a memory upgrade is required, will this invalidate the warranty? It looks as though the warranty sticker is stuck on the case to prevent it from being opened but this also prevents upgrades such as the adding of a blu ray drive which would make the system a bit limited.
Can you confirm if the warranty is still valid after such upgrades?
Slave Drive
Does anybody know if this pc has a spare Sata Harddrive connector and slot.
Many thanks
