Quick Review
os:
Windows VistaI purchased this machine for a friend as a basic email, surfing, Word etc. PC.
I removed the 2x512mb RAM (installed in the two memory slots) and fitted 2 x 1Gb PC2-6400 RAM (QF: 142380) which worked perfectly. Note: There are only 2 memory slots in this machine.
The base unit was teamed up with a LG 22" monitor (QF:143050) running at 1680x1050 which it handled without any fuss.
Great monitor if you want basic non-DVI performance and LG quality for only 130quid.
With the usual AVG etc. added, the performance is very good. For me though, the RAM upgrade is a must.
Silent running and excellent build quality seem to be typical of all of the ACER machines I've purchased recently.
Vista scores are all 4+ except for the graphics which is 3.0, but for what this machine is to be used for it is more than OK.
There is however a PCI Express slot, for those who need more graphics or DVI etc.
Card reader is a nice bonus and the included ball mouse and keyboard do the job, if not to the level that heavy users would like.
Comes pre-installed with loads and loads of rubbish games, applications, trial software (MacAfee, MSOffice) etc. Took me about an hour to clear them all off.
It does come with Works pre-installed which might be a bonus for some, but I prefer to use OpenOffice. Each to their own really.
As with most ACER PC's, the hard drive is split into two equal partitions. This is the first time for me that ACER has supplied two blank DVDs for making a back-up of the operating system, which was useful. This is very easy to do using the pre-installed ACER software.
Initially, I was disapointed that I couldn't get the 140quid ACER Sempron 3800 system that I purchased last month, but this does seem to be way ahead in terms of processor power, and runs more smoothly than the Sempron system.
I would still buy the 140 quid system (if available) if I wanted a basic machine, but at 200quid I don't think you can go far wrong with this machine. I couldn't find anything comparable for this price anywhere else except the Zoostorm machine also sold by Ebuyer. I didn't go for that machine as I don't know anything about Zoostorm, and their website is worse than the ACER website!!.

Windows VistaNice PC for 200 notes... build quality is good, runs silent, 2 USB on front, plus firewire and card reader, looks pretty good... this is my first experience of Vista but seems OK (would have preferred XP) - ideal home PC for internet surfing, syncing with your mp3 player, office applications, Photoshop etc etc... 1gb ram ok for most things, another gb will cost you another 20quid or so.
Excellent value for money, and as always Ebuyer came up trumps re delivery etc... if you're looking for a PC around 200 quid buy this one!

Windows VistaHad this for a month now. Very quiet machine. Great for for use as family PC - web browsing , Ipod, MS Office. Got a real performance improvement by using a 4Gb Kingston USB memory stick in Readyboost mode - much cheaper than upgrading to 2 Gig of RAM. Fast delivery by Ebuyer.
Excellent purchase

Windows VistaI am delighted with this PC.
Without any worries I also bought the 2 x 1Gb PC2-6400 RAM (QF: 142380) that another person bought, from reading there review.
Great value for money
:)
Motherboard
Does anyone know what the motherboard is in this PC? I am looking to buy it for AutoCAD 2009 and need to know what is the maximum installable RAM (2 x 2GB) it can take and what speed the PCI-E slot is i.e. x16
