Amazing CPU
operating system:Windows XPThis CPU is amazing.
At stock clocks with a Freezer 7 Pro I had it idling at 33C and when playing games this went up to 43C.
I now have it at 3.6Ghz (400*9 1.280v) and it idles 38C and after running Orthos it maxed at 56C.
Overclocking
operating system:Windows VistaOverclock with a 400FSB (3.6Ghz) without any increase in voltage.
Can reach 4GHz on my Gigabyte EP35C-DS3R motherboard with OCZ 8500 Memory using the following settings:
F2 BIOS
(do not use F3 BIOS as cold boot will result in BSOD)
FSB voltage +0.2V
(G)MCH overvoltage +0.3V
CPU Voltage 1.36250V
FSB 445Mhz
PCI-E Freq 100MHz
Memory timings manual at 5 5 5 15
Disable CPU EIST & CIA2 & CPU Enhanced halt
Othos tested & CPU temp max at 58 degrees celsius
3DMARK05 Score was 22232 with Gigabyte 8800GT card (originally 17546 with my overclocked 3.2GHz E6400)
Memtest ran fine also. Games can run on max setting e.g FEAR
Superb if you can get it
operating system:Windows XPI got one from Ebuyer last month when they briefly came into stock.
Using P5K-E it overclocks to 4GHz using Arctic Freezer Pro, running 1.40V and is stable with coretemp at 60-62C under load. Runs SuperPI 1M in 11secs, 10s if clocked to 4.3GHz but needs more voltage and temp than I'm happy with.
Blazingly fast
But it's not a mobile chip as the ebuyer description would have you believe. It's the desktop version. (All C2D mobile chips start with the prefix L, T or U).
And make sure you've realised that this is the OEM package so all you get is the chip in a tiny little brown cardboard box.
So make sure you've got a suitable heatsink/fan to go with it.
And I believe OEM chips have a 1 year warranty whereas the Retail package comes with 3 years. Not that anything ever goes wrong with these unless you fry em with too many volts or something.
