ASUS EEEPC1000-BK002

LinuxBought this eeepc from ebuyer for only 320 pounds and must say it is a little gem, primarily using it for photo previewing and internet surfing - especially when on the go.
Has a very good clear 10" screen and a classy gloss black casing - although finger marks show up easily, but comes with a little polishing cloth and a protective neoprene case.
There's a lot of features such as the 40GB SSD, Bluetooth, Wireless +n, LAN, WebCam, Sound, 1.6ghz etc. which make it a great portable machine for a variety of uses.
The Xandros Linux comes preloaded with Open office, Picasa, Adobe reader etc. I'm considering loading on Vista or XP though, as the Linux applications available are very limited.
Battery life for the 6cell battery pack is good and lasts in the region of approx 6hours, the automatic power saving feature is useful...
Thoroughly recommended product and great service from Ebuyer!
Memory Module
Yes you can upgrade it to 2GB using a single stick of memory....
RAM upgrade
I used quick code 142421 to upgrade this to 2gb, Crucial Tec memory and it works fine.
Great so far

Not ApplicableOrdered on supersaver last week but Ebuyer got it here in 2 rather than the promised 5 working days - great service again. The laptop looks great and seems to be very well built unlike some other ultra portables with wobbly screens. We have had it for a few days and find the Linux OS easy to use and does pretty much everything we need straight out of the box. Pre-loaded with Staroffice, firefox, thunderbird etc.
Great Little laptop

Windows XPJust wanted to write a little something about this fab little notebook!
got it next day brill!!
I baught with the intension of loading win xp and that is what i did. Had a little play with Linux but not for me also some of the apps i use wont work with it.
I could of gone for the 1000h or the other one but liked the battery life of the 1000 and i can get over 6 hors out of it!!
I was thinking of going for the model with the sata hdd and changing it for a ssd but they are still quite expensive.
I used a external USB LG dvd drive to install xp, I changed the boot on start up it found the drive right away no bios messing around!!!
I also added 2 gig of ram and this little laptop Flies!!
All in all it runs very well, i did some audio edeting and some basic video edeitng and its not bad!! Im vey pleased with it!!
Well worth it buy one!!! and if you don't like liux just install xp!

eee pc 1000
The eeepc 1000 is great for its size, I mean it is small - the 900 or 901 versions are useless if you ask me. Mine is with the 40Gb SSD drive and it runs about 4 hours in battery. The screen is 10 inch and yes that is quite small as well. If your looking for your every day work on it - I wouldnt recommend it - too small. The main reason I bought it for was "portability". For this reason it is useful
Memory Upgrade?
Please does any one know if it is possible to upgrade the memory module to a 2GB stick?
By removing a plastic case cover and the 1Gb to insert a 2gb stick instead?
Ram Inforation
on the 700,701,900,901 you can remove a panel to gain access to the ram and insert a 2GB Module, so yes i would think you can.
changing OS to ubuntu / kubuntu
I'd imagine that should I wish to (I have ubuntu hardy heron already), it would be no problem to install from an SD card?
Any thoughts ebuyers?
Thanks.
