operating system:
Windows VistaThis memory is grate when you find the correct settings. I tried 3 other types of memory and none of them worked (my system would not boot/post) in my motherboard (DK 790FXB-M2RSH) at 1066 MHZ, only at 800 MHZ.
But when using 1066 MHz ram with an AM2/AM2+ board and Phenom CPU you need to remember a few things.
1: When you first run the ram it will report back as 800 MHz ram in the bios and the DDR2 voltage will be around 1.8 to 1.95 volts. This needs to be change to 2.1 volts before you start changing any other setting.
2: You will need to set the ram to 1066 MHz mode in your bios or again it will come up as 800 MHz ram.
3: Some motherboards will get the timings wrong and you PC will crash or get BSOD. If you get this problem then go to the OCZ forum h**p://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52622 Post your problem and some one will get back to you ASAP. I had a problem and they got back to me a few hours with new timings which fixed my problems.
These were the settings I had to change to get my ram to work at the correct speed with out crashing or getting BSOD:
CAS set to 5, TRCD set to 6, TRP set to 6, TRAS set to 18 and all the Trfc's 0 - 3 set to 195ns and all other settings left on AUTO.
Now my system is running sweet.
Hope this INFO helps some one.
It works!
Two things (or three) The service from e-buyer was great. (I just took the free delivery within 5 days, stil came in 2) Second, I had some last minute compatibility questions for my asus P5Q-EM so I signed up and posted on the OCZ forum. I had an answer from an OCZ representative within two hours. And to do with the answer, my mobo supports by default less mhz and less voltage but this memory still works fine and you can overclock it in the bios later when you need to. For a first builder like me this was good to know and everything went well. Yeah!
Works well even with older ram.
operating system:
Windows VistaI have this fitted with some older 2gig ram, at the moment all running at 800mhz but I hope to buy another set of this ram and run at the 1066 it was designed for.
Im also looking forward to purhasing a faster CPU preferably an phenom 2 x4 when I can afford it. Should work together rather well.
Ive given it 4 stars cuz I havent been able to test it at 1066mhz yet.
