Silent Media PC!

Windows VistaBought this little gem off the back of a number of very postive reviews on the web as the basis for a living room media PC, and i am not disappointed.
Super quiet - Asus silent fan controls all on board CPU and case fans from bios - but are set to silent by default so you only have to fiddle if you want to.
Loads of int & ext SATA ports
HDMI & HDCP on board, latest intel gpu
Realtek Onboard 7.1 - latest drivers allow line in on Vista
V Easy set up - 2 x 1gb OCZ PC6400, dual core E6400, buffulo wireless network card, Antec Earth Watts 430w...2X HDD, an Optical, Vista - And thats it!
-ve - only one ATA port - but also a floppy ATA??! Who uses a floppy? Why not two ATA? Got around this no problem by putting optical and HDD on single ATA - both storage and works fine, but will be upgrading both to SATA as hardware is dirt cheap these days and will also improve ripping performance.
Thats it - i cannot recommend this board enough, I am a fan of Asus MB, I have a P5K in the games PC and have never had an ounce of trouble with either. Rock solid boards, great software bundle ( Norton AV, AI Suite ) all the cables you will need. On this MB the lack of another ATA is a gripe - so just upgrade your DVD to SATA. Simple. Oh and its MATX so will fit in both a dedicated media box or a full size tin like mine.
Vista score 4.1 - due to lack of PCI card in my rig. MB has PCI-E 16x so you could easily add a 8800GT for not a lot of money now and have a great gaming rig capable of playing Crysis, COD5, Fallout, FC 2 etc - although you'd probably want to up the PSU to min 650w

Windows VistaWhere to begin ok here goes this little beauty is well worth the money you pay for it. This m/b is a modern one and will fit all modern components it is also very easy to install and use.
My current setup is this:

THis is what is on my m/b at the mo it kicks ass.
The packaging came in a cool blue box with the common cables and instruction booklet and a CD for the BIOS it also does say do not use without protection although this may sound funny it's being deadly serious if you touch it with your bare hands BOOM and not the Gears of War kind it came wrapped in an anti static bag which is good so you can look at it without consequences.
My whole setup is as above shown on my motherboard it will run the BFG 9800GTX graphics card and 2 3.5" sata hard drives by seagate both 250GB it also hold the latest Sony CD/DVD drives and it is all conected to a Hiper 1000w PSU so this in not a cheap build but alot better than you get from stock builds you can buy.
This is a great buy from Ebuyer i would definetly advise buying this motherboard. Plus it's an ASUS motherboard a well respected company. A++++
One note for the readers do make sure you have enough connectors for the motherboard!

Windows VistaI have never put together a computer before, so I was a bit nervous about the whole deal. Mainly BIOS updates and the like. This board comes with an easy update wizard that works within windows so it was a piece of peeeees. Bios and utilities updated and ready to go without raising a sweat. (Just need an internet connection)
The onboard graphics let the side down as far as the vista ratings go (4.1) But I'm not the slightest bit interested in graphics so WHO CARES?
This was easy and user friendly to work with.
Dual display question
I can confirm this can run two seperate displays at the same time. Either extended or cloned desktop....Hope that helps

Windows 7Yes, this runs Windows 7. I've been using it as a Media Center PC in my living and it's works very well. Lots of connectivity; everything you could need in a motherboard.
The graphic chipset is working perfectly too. I used to have problems with the Intel HDMI sound dropping out after a graphics driver failure but that got fixed several months ago with a new version of the driver. It's solid now. I don't use it for any gaming; just video playback.
I would highly recommend it.

Dual Graphics
Can someone who has this board confirm that you can connect and use both VGA and HDMI/DVI at the same time please?
I am going to get the board but want to know if I need a seperate dual output graphics card as it needs to drive 2 monitors.
Windows 7 Ready?
Will this run with windows 7? I checked the Asus webite and it sayed it was 7 ready but in here it says its Vista ready.
