Very solid and impressive looking case

I was looking for a smaller case that would fit into a limited space and this seemed to fit the bill. However, when I unpacked it I found it to be slightly bigger than specified, which means I need to find somewhere else to house it. The actual dimensions are 440mm x 350mm x 105mm.

Dimensions aside, this is a very solid and impressive looking case and I would recommend it to anyone looking to build a basic system that will look good in a lounge environment. Make sure you can get a MATX power supply - the one I bought currently shows discontinued. I'm not sure that an ATX one would fit due to the positioning.

I was unsure about the flap that covers the DVD drive, but the button opens the drive correctly, although you need to move the flap out of the way to get the drive to close correctly. Maybe I will be able to fix this given time, but it's not a big issue.

The case fan is powered permanently into the power supply and I find it quite noisy. I will see if any adapters are available so that I can fit it directly to the motherboard controller.

great for the money

This is a great little case for the money, things are quite tight but what do you expect from a case this small, width and height wise it's about the same as my xbox 1, but about 60% deeper.

PSU used was an ebuyer own http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133577 it fit in fine but the fan was a little noisy so swapped it for an akasa amber. If you are having trouble finding a PSU you might want to look at a picoPSU the ones that are the size of an ATX power socket.

Hope that helps!

Best Case I Have Worked With!
review by: Dave Williams rating:

This is really well designed if you are building a HTPC.

The layout is a bit cramped, you need low profile cards and fans, but that's the price you pay for a small (and really sexy looking!) box.

The 300W 125004 PSU happily drives my system (includes a Core 2 Duo CPU!) and the case had an on/off switch for the PSU even though the PSU lacks one.

The instructions are a bit rubbish, watch out for the top pannel access to install the PSU: Shows a small flap that doesn't exist - instead remove a screw in the centre of the inside of the pannel and take off the whole top bit.

Case is really well made - unbelievably so for such a cheap model.

Piano Black Media Center MicroATX Case

Wonderful case. Easy to install a micro atx system inside of and looks sleek and smart to boot! Great for a media centre PC or a small machine to do some work on, highly recomended. The only fault I found was with the eject button on the DVD draw, it can get stuck against the button underneath it, though this is fixable if you round off the corners.

Took delivery of this case today after waiting a few weeks for them to come back into stock , well worth the wait as it looks great.

I've used a CIT 400W Micro ATX power supply which fits fine.

PSU

A bit of advice for anyone needing to get a micro atx psu for this case.

Firstly ebuyer don't sell them for some reason.

Secondly micro atx psu's come in three different heights. The only one that fit's in this case is 65mm (2.5 in)

Hope this saves anyone else who buys this case the hassle I and my son in law had.

Four stars as the case itself is outstanding. One star knocked off for the lack of important info in the description

Nice case - Shame about the PSU
review by: Chris Halford rating:

As mentioned, you will be hard pressed to find a suitable PSU to use with this. We have many Micro ATX PSU's here and most of them around 63mm in height, but its the depth thats causing us problems. Ours are 130mm in depth which is that little bit too big to fit. What your after is a PSU which is around 100mm in depth with a height of 63mm and a width of 125mm. /PowerSupplyUnits.htm#FSP-30060GLS. Hope this helps people who are interested in purchsing this case.
Other than the PSU the case looks good and the build quality is better than some.
Only dropped 1 star because of the psu issue.

Get your hacksaw out
review by: Anonymous rating:

operating system: Windows XP

This is a very nice looking case for the price and fits in nicely as a media center PC next to my PS3. The PSU sits at the front and right on the case underneath the floppy bay. As other reviewers have pointed out the recommended PSUs don't fit as the fan on top of the PSU gets in the way of the floppy caddy. The whole caddy area is easily removed though and as I wasn't going to use the bay for anything I hacksawed out a piece so the PSU would fit. The depth of the case could also be an issue when using it as a media center so check it will fit where it will be placed. Overall, excellent value for money.

Good quality case for the price...
review by: Adrian Kwa rating:

It's a good case. Very solid build. Nice finish.

It's a bit bigger than expected... it's long. But the dimensions are correct. It's as long as the motherboard + a 3.5" hard disk put together. Height wise it's motherboard plus height of a "typical" mATX PSU. Very narrow @ 10cm. Good looking case.

PSU. Now then this is the biggest problem with the case. I managed to source myself an Enlight mATX PSU from ebay. It has a 1/2 a fan sticking out and that is why it doesn't fit! I fear that I may not be able to source a decent quality PSU at the specified dimension... Hopefully there is one out there that would fit.

4 stars from me because of the PSU issue. Other a bargain case for the quality.
