Worked in Ubuntu 8.1 out of the box
operating system:
LinuxPerformed simultaneous brain and heart surgery on my linux server - new motherboard, ram, CPU, graphics card and 1TB sata II drive.
Everything went very smoothly apart from the BIOS not recognising the specific Phenom model and therefore running the memory at 800 instead of 1066.
The Phenom II uses so little power that my old 350W Antec TruePower has no issues.
Looking forward to the Bios update from Gigabyte so that the memory will run at full whack.
I can now debug Magento in comfort.
BTW this is the retail Black Edition with heatsink/fan and 3 year warranty.
Fantastic CPU
operating system:
Windows VistaCPU Temps 42'c idle with AC Extreme Freezer.
Needed to update bios to 1.3 on the xfx 750a Mobo. (For better Phenom II support and for the Mobo to recognise the name of the CPU).
I think this CPU currently ranks 38 of all CPUs solution. (cpubenchmark.net)
It is worth spending the extra money to get this CPU. Than any other Phenom. Esp if your deciding between the 920 and the 940.
... I mean, you will only regret it afterwards.

Omg How Fast Can You Get

Windows XPJust moved from a x2 6000 dual core 3Ghz. What an improvement. It does work in an Asus M2N32 WS PRO, just as long as you drop back to BIOS version 1802 and default the setting before switch on.

Windows XPthis is a very nice processor. was worried that it would be prone to overheat due to the number of cores but after a month its heat and performance is amazing. alot less prone to overheating than my previous AMD dual core even when i work it. Its a must buy worth every penny.
