Briliant
operating system:
Windows VistaI got 7 of these for my new media pc and ive filled 2 with films and music and tv shows and trying to find ways to fill the other 3 and I am going to get 3 more once they are full great buy thanks again ebuyer for fast delivery.
Partition limits
As this issue is now becoming relevant, can those using these super-massive drives please confirm:
Although this drive probably provides 1862GB, my understanding is that 32 bit Windows is limited to 2TB (2048GB) partitions. On 64 bit Windows, this limit only applies to the boot partition, with all others limited to 16,000TB. Is this correct?
Good quiet Hard-Drive

Windows XPI'm very impressed with my new 2TB Caviar Green drive. I have 4 SATA300 OEM disks installed in my Drobo, and recently upgraded the smallest drive to a Caviar Green. The other drives are SpinPoints, which were also excellent. But the Caviar beats them on every metric : seek time, power consumption, fault rates, cycle lifetimes, and even noise. Whereas the (otherwise silent) SpinPoints make a little whine as they spin up, the Caviar is silent at all times. So my Drobo now boots up with a "Whine, Whine, ----, Whine" !
Very cool drive. Bring the price down!
Massive Storage needs

AWESOME DRIVE BAGS OF STORAGE

Windows 7Bought one of these for use in a new media centre build lots of storage quick enough and most importantly very quiet.
Will be buying another one next year!
Great but expensive
I bought three of these as soon as they were announced. They're great but the price was high when I bought them and is higher still now - very difficult to justify buying more at this price.
Small Cache
These appear to have a very small cache for data transfer - the 1TB versions also have 32mb cache and if you bought two and used a striped RAID (1) you'd have cache of 64mb with faster read/write times... plus you'd save cash...
So basically my advice to gain more cache and save cash :)
buy two 1TB drives! :)
