Windows VistaI must admit I was one of the people who had problems with there last range of drives but they do seem to have got it back together.
I have just setup 2 of these in a raid 0 array at 64k and they are fast and very quiet.
I have been keeping a very close eye on these looking for signs of bad health and they are running as expected.
I really can't see any reason not to recommend this hard drive.
This drive restores Seagates good name!

Windows VistaAfter all the issues with the 11th. generation drives...this 12th. generation series puts all the past issues to rest.Excellent drive that restores Seagates reputation in the Hard Disk marketplace.Good all round specs and performs and installs faultlessly.The OEM package comes without the SATA cable and the fixing screws but they are easily obtained for very little cost.The full tech spec manual is available for download from Seagate...What more do you need.At these prices ..buy two and Raid array em' for even better performance.Just as good as Raptors and a hell of a lot more storage space for your money! Great value Ebuyer..Thanks!!

Cool and Quiet

Windows XPThis drive scores well for three reasons:
1. It is slimmer and lighter than many recent drives. Perhaps it only has a single platter inside?
2. It is very quiet in operation. I can barely hear this one at all.
3. It stays cool to the touch even after extended periods of constant access (e.g. a format or during a chkdsk /r /f).
The fact that it does not get warm is particularly valuable in a modern PC where cooling is often crucial.
Also thanks to Ebuyer for quick delivery (arrived nextday), even though it was SuperSaver postage.

Windows XPBought this drive to put in a budget system. I always buy OEM drives as you never need the retail packaging and you pay less! Worked first time fine, formatted OK and is nice and quiet. What more could you ask for at this price!?

Windows XPPeople are right when they say it regains seagates name from the old series. This is thinner then most hard drives as well. It is dead silent i cant hear it, although it wont be heard over a gts 250gfx card.
Don't hesitate Buying one now.

Windows VistaThis hard-drive is amazing.
I switched from a 250GB 7200.10 to this and it's made Vista lightning, which suprised me.
Doing a test in Datamarck shows it reading at ~110MB/s, eventually 'slowing' down to 85MB/s on the inner platters.
Note though, this is a heavily cluttered Vista install that hasn't been defragmented for over 6 months.
Get one.

Windows VistaDrive is a bit faster than my old 7200.10 8mb cache drive. It's not as quiet but you hardly hear it if you've got a lot of fans or music playing.
