WoW OMG
This is a fantastic CPU, out of the box (not overclocked) it is easily as fast as C2Q Q9650 in real life work and games.
I have it on my Asus M4A78T-E, just upgraded the BIOS to 1001 and away...
This sucker is fast fast FAST.
It may not be a Core i7, but it is defo going to be making the i7 920 not such a way-out leader in the mid range. the 955 can beat almost all C2Q processors and will outrun all C2D chips. This has got to be the best Bang for buck on the market.
This IS a 5 star processor - end of.
Cooling recommendation

Windows XPExcellent CPU very fast and stable.Just a comment about the stock cooler, this does the job ok and keeps temps below 50c but when ambient temperatures are high the fan spped increases as per the bios but it sounds like a helicopter is landing in your room. I have replaced it with an Arctic cooler for the sake of my ears.This performs superbly.
For the person asking what vista experience index this gets
The windows Vista experience index only goes up to 5.9 (max).
This one will get the max score and so will all the intel i7 procs.
In fact the phenom II 720 (tri core) gets 5.9 (in vista 32bit) also.
We reached the limit on the vista scale a few years ago - and now theres many procs (all with different processing powers) that get the max score of 5.9 .
The vista experience index is not a very accurate way of comparing peformance anyway (and since the limits been reached in all the sections , hard drive, ram , graphics etc there are many different components that will give you the max score)
On a side note: Windows 7 will go up to a max 7.9

Not Applicablei bought one of these little over a month ago, and at this price is definately a must buy, although i have yet to use its latent power because i'm still using the onboard GPU and SPU on my motherboard (ASUS M4A78T-E) i've been very impressed in any case by even the onboard hardware. especially when trying games like Quake 4 and Doom 3 (50FPS @ 1024x768 in high detail)
And windows 7 RC runs REALLY really well on this machine :), like i said, i've still got some more upgrades to do!!

Bought ASROCK M3A790GXH 128M 790GX (Quickfind code 160994) however the performance was utterly disapointing - really, really, really disapointing.
Looking around various forums and internet advice sites I discovered people were boasting this processor was on par with sliced bread.
The board above requires a BIOS update to take advantage of it. After the update my machine really flies.
I use Handbrake to encode DVDs for my iPod.
On my old x2 6000 AM2 it was more or less ecoding in real-time.
With the above processor it does it in a quarter of the time - YES a quarter of the time.
I am delighted by this processor and what it can do for me.

Excellent CPU

Windows VistaIt outpeforms most of the Intel Quad chips and for half the price in some cases. Excellent chip and well made. I bent some of the pins and put them back into place and it still worked.
Just to say, you can use AM2+ motherboards with this processor, but you need to watch out as some AM2+ boards don't come with the correct BIOS version to really support it. All in all, well done.

Windows VistaI've been using this for a few hours now, and it is unbelieveably good. Super fast, and super powerful.
All the games I have played on it to test it have never run better.
A BIOS update was necessary before this could be used in my motherboard but otherwise there were no other problems.
Very pleased with this purchase.
Phenom 2 Quad core

Windows VistaJust a quick word to anybody thinking about buying this cpu...stop thinking and buy it already...easy to install and although its only been in for a few days(bought for budget gaming pc)it takes any thing you dish out to it...great price to performance ratio with great overclocking capabilities...
Slight issue with delivery though.I had it on the super saver delivery ordered early hours Mon and arrived Thurs.Had issues with UPS though.My "LOCAL" depot according to them is a 100 mile round trip away(Gloucester)as i live in south wales cardiff is 13 miles away from me but they refused to return goods to this depot on non-delivery.E-buyer did step in however and the goods were left with a neighbour(not before wasting 3-4hours in work using the E-notes system)so it all turned out good in the end.Just bear this in mind when ordering in the south wales area if you are going to miss delivery and pref to pick up from depot
Very fast

OtherThis CPU is extremely fast, it def surpasses the performance of my current Q9300.
I have it coupled with an Asus M4A785TD-M EVO motherboard and Kingston Hyper X DDR3 ram.
Running on Windows 7 its very hard to push it to its limit. With the stock standard CPU fan i havent seen the temp rise about 52 degrees.
It took me a couple of months to decide between this and a Q6700, however im extremely happy I went with AMD.

Try using ATI video converter, seems to work very well with graphics processor.
Converts video's very quickly.
Go to ATI's website, and download the video converter.
